Yep, and yep. My 1860 Army replicas were half the cost of the cheapest SAAs, which was the driving reason for me to get them. They take longer to clean, but they cleaning only requires soap and water, which makes it a lot easier. I've only shot in one cowboy match so far, but I only had one misfire the whole time (and it was my fault, not the gun's). I really like the black powder.

No, but..... Iwent into the gunshow with 300 bucks. I left with some fancy stocks for my BHP, a M-14 mag, some cleaning/Garand accessories, 50 rds of buckshot and of all things a new Pietta 58 New Army. So I figure it's only a matter of time. A long time I hope, I can't buy IPSC clothes and Cowboy clothes at the same time. My first revolver too.

Yes to SASS, NO to blackpowder. I use that new fangled stuff, smokeless.
Have played with black using Pyrodex pellets. They are easy enough to load in cartridges. Haven't figured what to do about the shotgun, though.

Black Powder

Black powder usually isn't too bad, unless the weather is very humid and no wind in a closely bermed area. They you can loose sight of the targets (and everything else).

Wakal, the bag limit on Cowboys is a maximum of 7 interceptions per game. If you mean the other kind of cowboy, that would be zero.

I got into it because I thought it might be fun. It is! It is also the only shooting sport my wife enjoys. She actually knows about guns now, and is getting pretty good.
While black powder is fun to watch, don't stand down wind when someone is shooting.
