So I got home from work and started to empty out my pockets onto the dresser just like I always do before I take a shower.

Pulled out my Glock 19 +holster first which I carry AIWB and the spare mag (owb holder).

Then I pulled out my Kahr PM9 +holster which I carry in my front left pocket and a spare mag (back left pocket along with wallet).

Then i proceeded to remove my Beretta 950 bs Jetfire +holster from my back right pocket and the spare mag (in that little pocket above your front right pocket along with lighter).

I thought I was done before I tried to pull my pants off and then remembered I still had to take off my S&W 360PD that I was carrying in a Galco ankle glove... (speed strip in front right pocket along with phone).

After all that, I sat back and thought to myself, "Why in the !#%@ am I carrying so many guns?". I attribute it to that bloat phenomenon where I notice an empty spot on my person and think "Man, I wonder if I have another gun I could carry there?"

Overkill? Probably. Being prepared? Priceless.

I don't know if there's a definite answer, but for me, I can't see carrying more than 2. I understand a primary CCW and a NY reload, but after that, it seems excessive, TO ME. I will say though, assuming you can properly conceal 4 guns on your person, I'm impressed!

My CPL instructor always taught that 1 is none, 2 is 1, and 3 is good. Mine are Springfield XDS, S&W M&P Shields, and an air weight Bodyguard.

I usually carry a pocket pistol and a full size. 4 is a lot but I'll never knock on someone being more prepared than me.

I carry and only feel the need to carry one tested and trusted firearm. If I feel the need, I'll carry a double stack and a mag or 2 extra.

Carrying is a means to an end. The end being the safety of you and yours. In your case, the means became the ends. Carrying is the focus, not just living a normal life with a tool on the belt. Yes, I believe it's overkill. No, I don't really care how many you carry. If you're doing it right, I won't know you have any on you.

I mean no offense, but 4 guns? Do you happen to bring everything but the kitchen sink on road trips or have any OCD tendencies? Or have you just maybe gotten busy enough with life that you are just now realizing the level of overkill you're engaged in?

Well regardless, concealing 4 guns is impressive. Personally I carry an XDs with no extra mag. I've never felt the need for more than that. But do what you are comfortable with man.

You could be a master thief if you can conceal that many guns effectively. Most people have a bowl they drop their keys in at the end of the day so you know where they are. Corton93 has s bowl of guns.

Is this a daily routine, or is this more a "how many can I carry today" novelty that you do from time to time? I think I've had my limit at trying two guns, and even that was one time. Carrying too much stuff bothers me, and I hate things in my pockets. If anything, I double up on spare mags and call it good. Nevertheless, it's impressive that you can fit 4 on you.

More or less a daily routine... The only one that varies from time to time is the 360PD, and that's only determined by whether or not im wearing boots that come up past the ankle.

In my opinion it makes more sense to have one primary and one back up gun and carry more reloads for your primary. But it's a very personal decision and I will not criticize whatever you choose is best for you.

How about the issue of weapon retention? What if you get into an UNARMED confrontation that does not justify deadly force, especially if the fight goes to the ground? Just something to think about.

I usually just carry one with a spare magazine though if I carry my 1911 I do carry 2 spare mags. I am not one to criticize but I do think carrying that many would be more work than I am willing to go to.

I carry too much other stuff that I use on a daily basis to be able to make space for four guns & three reloads.

Before I'd carry a second or third pistol, I'd make sure I was carrying a good compact flashlight. That's something you will likely use frequently for non-self-defense and that could also contribute to one's survival in a shooting.

Likewise a good quality folding knife. I use a knife for one thing or another several times a day.
Being prepared?
Being prepared is good. Something we should all strive for.

Being prepared heavily in one area while ignoring the entire rest of the spectrum of possibilities is less about being prepared and more about scratching a personal itch.

Think about other things you might want or need to be prepared for and consider carrying things that could help in those situations. Do you carry a pen? A spare cellphone battery or cellphone? A spare set of glasses? The point is that there are lots of things that can go wrong that could negatively impact you beyond just being attacked violently.

Once you've got the bases covered, then maybe think about adding more guns and reloads.

IMO, that now begs the question as to why you feel it necessary to carry four different guns and a reload for each. You'd better off just carrying two main guns and a reload - same manual of arms and ammo, mags would interchange, etc - sorta the KISS principle in action..

If it "goes to the ground" it may very well require deadly force. Don't let it get to the ground unless you're playing grab ass. Otherwise, only one of you should go to the ground.

IMHO there are probably more usefully EDC items than 2 more guns beyond a primary and a bug. Also I think it starts to look weird at a certain point even to pro gun folks. That could be a negative if you ever have police contact. I had involment in such a case.

You carry more guns than I did. Working late nights. On patrol. In a rough part of town with bars and crack dealers.

You can't realistically keep control of that many weapons scattered about your body. The fact that you missed one undressing underscores that.

Physical confrontation. Going to the bathroom etc. too much to keep track of.

Assuming your a law abiding citizen, you can carry as many you want for whatever reason you want and I have no problem with it. As far as how many are "needed"..... well so far for me that'd be 0. I've never needed one, yet.

How many is to many, that's subjective and dare I say irrelevant.
I carry one or on rare occasions two.

Btw: you can get a necklace holster for a NAA mini. ;)
