How many mags, per gun, do you have?

I don't see much utility in mags beyond 5 or so, and the most I actually have is 4. I can load a lot of ammo for the cost of a couple of mags. Maybe my perspective would be different if any of my guns were for defense...

Magazines! my revolvers don't need no stinking magazines!!,however i generaly had 5 mags for each of my glocks,3 for carry and 2 spares.

If I have less than 6 for it you can be sure I bought the gun just to have it. I'm down to 8 for my 1911s only because I haven't been shooting them, will re-Wilsonize as soon as I set the Glocks down for awhile. For the Glock 17/34 I think I have 10-10rd mags and 10 big mags. Several are 22 rd types. The AR is the worst offender, 40+ mags for one gun. I have about 18 for my 2 BHPs. I'm good for basing gun buys on what acoutrements I already have, commonality in mags between the multiple variants of a gun theme saves money to buy more ammo.

I expect to get worse when the mag ban dies, I will be out over 1-2K in current market value of mags, so I will console myself by buying more guns and magazines. :D

Minimum of 3 factory mags in maximum allowed capacity that feeds reliably. Ideally, also have misc. parts such as replacement mag springs and followers.

One should have a minimum of 3 per carry gun. 2 to carry, one for a spare kept empty, and rotating it on a monthly basis.

For the Kimber/BUL, I've got two ten rounders, three prebans (14 rounds). When I get the rescomp mag release, I'll have no ten rounders and four prebans (para mags).

The Ruger has one ten rounder, one pre-ban (range gun, never carried).

I've got about a dozen GI mags for my GM 1911's, two Chip McCormick 8 rounders.

For my officers model I've got two Wilson 7 shot and two or three 8 rounders (i have three, one is missing though), factory mag is floating around somewhere.

I've got two speedloaders and four or 5 speedstrips for my .38.

Now, for guns I dont have:

Four Para P14-45 prebans (previosly mentioned, will be used in the Kimber), two preban para P16-40s, two preban Para P13-45, one ruger Mini-14 (20 round i think?), three or four AR15 20 rounders, one 30 round. Someday, when my car isnt sucking up so much money, I'll get the guns that go with them...

Each 1911 has at the very least 4 Some 7s and some 10s.
6-10s and 4/pre-bans for the high-cap (so far working on more).
Revolvers have 2 speed loaders each.

At least 5 per handgun

10 (20/30 round)per AR 15 (and I am told that is not enough)

100 Clips for my M1 Garand

for a high cap gun, 10 mags plus 1 in the gun. For a 1911, 15 is the minimum. for a mouse gun or odd gun, 5 in the minimum. I don't carry them all at once but it is the most fragile part of the system and wears out the most often.

For my 1911:
3 McCormick Shooting Stars
2 McCormick Power Mags
3 Wilson 47Ds (One is busted though :()

All are 8 rounders.

For the H&K UPS40c:
3 standard 10 round factory mags. (Soooo expensive!)

I would like to get a couple of full cap mags for the H&K. Can never have too many bullets!

:D

Two questions

1) I am within walking distance of my indoor shooting range, which stocks (at my request) Wilson mags (also McCormick and others). Some of you want a lot of mags in case one breaks.

I would simply walk over and buy one.

Why should I stock them if they are not being used, if I can get my store to do it for me, for free? Plus, they will be "new" instead of having been in my closet for x number of years.

(note: I carry one in the gun, two on the belt. I only have one gun for carry, and I practice with what I carry, so all mags are used every practice session)

2) Cslinger and others state that they specifically want "factory" mags. I happen to have a Kimber, and the factory mag is not nearly as good as the Wilson. It is also a 7-shot mag, and I prefer the Wilson 8 rounders. Why do you find "factory" mags more desirable than aftermarket?

Factory mags are more desirable for every gun but the 1911. Because SIG, Glock, Beretta, S&W, CZ, etc. produce quality mags for their own guns, the only space for competition is on price. And since the aftermarket mag makers don't know the guns they're making mags for nearly so well as the original manufacturers do, quality suffers. The major exception is MecGar, who actually makes the OEM mags for CZ, Browning, and others.

Why the 1911 makers can't get it through their heads to include quality mags is beyond me.

I have 12 7-round mags for my Auto Ordnance 1911A1. I keep all of them loaded all the time in a small canvas bag. When I go shooting I just grab the bag. I carry 7+1 for CCW with a spare mag in a belt slide carrier.

Dumb question: why isn't this in autoloaders? How many magazine-fed revolvers are there?

Now if the title said CLIPS, well then, I had about two dozen moon clips for my S&W 610 Classic.
