In recent dicussions about 1911s and which one to pick the consideration of how many rounds are actually going down range from any given pistol has come up. I am interested in how many rounds do you shoot a year & what are the top 2 pistols you shoot and what is the percentage of your total round count does it represent.

I want to exclude 22lr because I think it will skew the numbers too much when compared to say 45 ACP. Lets keep it to defensive calibers from semi-autos. So 380 auto on up...

I will go first. I am on pace to shoot about 18,000 to 20,0000 rounds this year.

My #1 shooter is a 9mm BHP. 30%
My #2 shooter is my Les Baer TRS 30%

These always go to the range with me.

Shoot about 5000 rounds per year, roughly.

#1 shooter is 9mm Sig p226 50%
#2 shooter is 40cal H&K USPc 25%

From a defensive round semi-auto I fire approximately 7800 rounds per year.

#1 CZ SP01 50% Home defense handgun.
I fire this gun every single time I go to the range.

#2 Kahr CW9 30% Conceal carry handgun.
I have this gun with me every time I go to the range regardless if I shoot it or not. Mostly it does indeed get fired.

Hence, these are the two guns I am most accurate with. Amazing how that happens.:D

It's hard for me to give examples of the top two pistols that I shoot most, as I tend to trade them up for other things. Maybe someday when I win the lottery I won't do that.

Right now I can just speculate that the top two will be both .45 auto. in the 2000-2500 round range

S&W M&P 45c - 80%

Springfield Range Officer - 20%

I'll shoot close to double that in .22 LR and and my ruger 22/45 won't mind a bit.

Whoops I voted before I read your post!! Sorry! My vote is for all fire arms I use in a year; rifles and pistols.....I just hunt and seldom punch paper except for some pistol firing.

If I had to guess for pistols:
45acp 50 to 100 a month
9mm 60 to 150
shoot a lot of .22 which does not count

Having said that there are months I do not shoot pistols and months where I shoot more so estimates may be off by a few percent.

Well after I got laid off last May, I had more time to go to the range. Before that I probably only made it out 3 or 4 times a year (range is 40 minutes away).

After being laid off, I went about once a week. Took my dad's LLama 1911 and 100 rounds every time. So I would say I shot about 500-800 rounds through it.

Often we would take our P38 and 100 rounds, but not every trip, so I shot about 300-500 rounds through it.

Also took my Ruger Security 6 several times and shot 50-100 rounds a time with it, so maybe 200-300 rounds through it.

Also a J.P. Sauer Hawse SA Army clone, in .357 and a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

I'd say the absolute most acurate of those guns was the Ruger Security 6. I could shoot a 1" center to center group at 10 yards. (to me that is impressive for offhand pistol shooting)

I shoot 30-35k each year. I might not make it that high this year because of time constraints related to my thesis.

My number one shooter used to be my Baer PII before it started breaking parts, now its my 6" SVI 2011. Probably a third of my yearly rounds go through this, or the PII before it. About half of my yearly shooting is .45 ACP through some 1911-style handgun.

Second behind that is difficult to figure out. I think its going to be my bullseye gun, a Custom II with a Marvel conversion kit. 15-20%, maybe more. I don't keep good track of .22 round counts.

I shoot competative every weekend

about 7000 rounds a month. .45 .40 and 9MM and now soon to be .380

Most shot..9mm., .40 cal., 45acp., .38 spec. (in that order.) A few .357 mags. just because I love the old Sec 6 and 6 1/2" 3 screw. I don't reload so I shoot only about 25% the amt. I'd like. If the prices were still like the late 60's thru 80' I'd be out there every possible day.

I like to go to the range at least once a week & blow off about 200 rounds.
Then once or twice a month my nephew goes with me & we blow about 500-600 rounds.

I voted 5,000-10,000, but that might be a touch low.
That includes 38 spl, 357 mag, 9mm & 45 Colt.

Does not include 22lr & 223 rem.
(haven't had my AR out in 3 or 4 months - might have to do that pretty soon.)

I currently shoot USPSA matches every other weekend and some of those matches are two-day events like the one this past weekend. If I include practice and "plinking" I shoot somewhere between 10,000 to 15,000 rounds a year ... maybe more. I also shoot a lot of rifles on the "off" weekends which includes F-Class matches, working up loads and practice. I also shoot the second Friday of each month on a military range and typically run through 300 or so pistol and rifle rounds.

Ranked by round count:

#1 pistol is a Kimber Tactical Entry II
#2 pistol is a SIG P220 Combat

#1 rifle is a POF P415
#2 rifle is a custom Remington 700

I've had a year filled with moving; I believe my round count is in the low dozens, and that only because I spent a fun hour shooting w/ my girlfriend's dad. His slicked-up .38 has the smoothest I've ever shot. This will change, though -- planning to get somewhere in the low 4 digits in the course of the year.

I used to record every round I fired, but it quickly got to be a lot of work for very little reward. But just as an estimate, say 2-3 practice sessions per week, 250 rounds each, plus USPSA or 3-gun on the weekends... I probably average 750 rounds per week. Call it 30,000 (handgun) rounds fired every year, 80% of which goes through my Smith and Wesson M&P9 Pro. Most of the rest is fired in my 0.40 STI Limited gun.

Not near enough......

These days, real life keeps getting in the way.... so not near enough..

When I was shooting competitively about 500 a week on average...

When I was in FA training about 100 a week or so...

Need to shoot more.. it clears the mind....:)

I don't shoot as much as I used to shoot. I'll probably shoot around 1000 rounds split between 3 carry guns and an additional 5,000-7,000 through my primary competition pistol. In addition to range time I'll do 250-300 hours of dry fire.

Approx. 10K in a CZ75B 9mm pistol

"Maybe" 400-500 in a Sig P239 9mm pistol.

so far this year:

300 win mag - 215
45 ACP - 466
9mm - 700-800
357 Mag 150

since this is mid March I'll multiply each of those x 4 for an annual qty. That should be a high estimate.

300 win mag 800-825
45 ACP 1600-1650
9mm 3000-3200
357 Mag 600

1- 45 acp auto/revolver - see #4
2- 38 spl revolver - really rediscovered this round love it
3 -9mm auto- cause I get cheap shooting time
4- 45 colt- favorite
