I know its a vague question, but about how many rounds do you put down range in an average range trip?

I usually put about 200 9mm, 100 .45 rounds, 30 to 50 12 ga rounds down range, plus any SD ammo ( I mark each time I chamber a round, after 3 marks its in the range pile)

For a little easier question, dont count .22 ammo.

200 - 250 rounds per week of .40 and .45 (mostly 45) plus 1 - 2 mags of SD ammo that has been loaded in a mag for around a month. This helps me stay familiar with the SD rounds as well as cycle mags regularly.

Don't Count 22 . . . ??

I would say, when I'm by myself, I run about 150 to 200 of whatever. This does not include .30-30 'cuz my shoulder objects. Shooting .30-30 only lasts about 40 rounds or so, then I switch to something lighter -- like 22 LR.

Since I don't get to count the (at least) 200 rounds that I shoot every time I take one of the larger guns, does that mean I get my money back on the ammo I bought?

200 through a minimum of 3 hand guns, about 3 times a month. So that comes out to 1800 rounds in any given month. Sometimes more, rarely less. Reloading sure does take up a lot of time, a lot more than it does to shoot 'em all...:banghead: (Midway loves me)

Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.

300-500 rounds of .223
200 rounds of 40sw
100 rounds of 762x54
is my average trip to the shooting spot.

I don't shoot just to put steel on target. Perfect practice makes perfect always. That's accomplished well under 100 rounds. When I find myself just shooting then its time to go home. Like chess you dont make a move without a purpose. You don't shoot without a purpose.

I'am good for 300 rounds per trip but that
number may go up or down depending on
my needs. My last trip i had 3 pistols i had
not fired,i ended up going thru 400 357's
and 300 9mm's.

I shoot to have fun. That it's purpose. :)

Normally I shoot about 200-300 rounds of centerfire. That's just two or three boxes of pistol ammo and maybe 5-8 mags of rifle ammo.

22LR? I could easily eat up three bricks through my CZ Kadet and Marlin 60 or AR without even trying.

for me it depends entirely on what i'm shooting. i haven't had as much time this year to go blasting as i did last year because i'm spending my saturdays at HP competitions. result is shooting 50 or 88 rounds per weekend.

other saturdays, my daughter and i will go through a 550 count box of 22lr, and i usually put 200 rnds of 223 into coke cans.

or, if i'm shooting steel, somewhere between 350-600 rnds of 45acp.

or if i'm shooting long range, 10-30 rnds, handloading them one at a time, and measuring velocity and pressure.

so it really varies enough that i couldn't characterize and average trip.

Lately, I have been limiting my shooting due to several things.
One is the price of ammo. If you have not checked recently, it is out of sight. Even for the stuff I reload, its getting very expensive.
MilSurp has become not only expensive, but difficult to even find. I check my 'go to' rifles for accuracy and function, but I don't shoot up the 500+ rounds per session that I used to.

I shoot one box of 50 through my pistol every week.

Twice a month or so I'll shoot around 100 rounds through the AR and 100 rounds through the Mosin.

Now, that poor little Marlin 60 . . .

Half a box of .22 long rifle, so about 250 there (Love my Henry lever action) and about 5 or 6 boxes of 8mm on my M48. Each box at 15 rounds so 120 8mm, roughly the same out of my Mosin

120 8mm
120 7.62x54
250 .22

490 total

Dang... doesn't seem like much when you're shooting it lol

I shoot about 150 rounds each time I hit the range plus any SD rounds that are to be retired.

To break it down it's:
100 22LR
50 whatever pistol I bring with me that day

150 .308, 100 .45's, some 12 gauge slugs if I have any, 200 or so Wolf X39's, and some 8mm from my stash, I never count it, just fill a zipblock before I leave. I'd guess 70-100 rounds of 8mm. Thats between 2 or 3 of us. I also shoot tons of .22, but that doesn't count:scrutiny:

200+

That is assuming that

a) I'm not at the outdoor range (the outdoor range is a "day trip" so I shoot longer

b) I'm not using someone's FA weapon... then all bets are off, 1,000+ is more likely.

The reason I said dont count .22 is because it varies greatly with me from range trip to range trip. Done trip might be 100-200 rounds of .22 and the next trip may be 700 rounds, kinda hard to keep an accurate count on too.

Im not talking about weekend long blast-a-ways at the range or week training sessions at balckwater or thunder ranch, just your "average" Sunday afternoon range trip.

I voted 101-200 and I suppose I shoot that many more often than not, but the fuller picture is that I varies quite a bit depending on what guns I am shooting, how many guns I am shooting, what range I am shooting at and what I am trying to achieve.

If I am out with my 45-70 Marlin 1895 with peep sight, banging steel swingers at the 100-yard berm, I will not fire more than about 65-70 shots in a day, and that is spread over 3-4 hours of shooting. Now, while I let the big gun rest, I may sprinkle another 100 rounds of 22lr offhand on smaller steel plates so that would raise the round count. Then again, maybe all I shoot that day is the 45-70.

If I am at the indoor bullseye club shooting national match courses with my 45, I probably will fire about 50 to 100 rounds.

If I am shooting 22lr benchrest practice, I may only fire 50 to 100 rounds.

If I am practicing my sight picture, trigger press and return to target for IDPA with my S&W 66, I may fire 300-400 rounds in a session in just 45 to 60 minutes.

If it is a day where I am meeting 3-4 buddies and we've coordinated to bring X firearms to have a little friendly match (and we have a few games), then I probably will fire fewer rounds because we are concentrating and recording shots, etc.

You get the picture.

In decent wheather, My private range is only a few minites from me. I might sloot as little as 5 to ten rounds as in sighting in someones deer rifle to a bunch more building a load or plinking with a Mil-Surp. I'd wager I seldom shoot more tham 100 rounds at a session...........Essex

I usually go through 400 to 500 rounds of .45acp through two guns. I'm usually at the range for 3 or 4 hours every other week. I usually go through 250 using a two handed grip and a 100 each strong and weak hand. I just got a Browning Buckmark so my .22lr count is going up rapidly. I find it helps to switch to the Buckmark when my groups get big or start to shift. Rifle it depends what I'm shooting the "hunting rifles" not many because I'm a recoil pansy, the AR 100 to 500 depending on what else I brought to the range.
