How many rounds do you average per gun each trip to the range? And how often do you go? For me its 20-30 for my bolt guns and 40for the AR. I go about once a month unless I get lucky. 3 times this week:)

About 200 to 300 for 9 mm if 2 to 3 guns
About 200 45 acp 1 or 2 guns
About 200 38/357, sometimes more if I'm only shooting one other caliber.
Another 100 to 150 if 44 mag
22 lr if i do shoot it 200 to 300. Only recently. What's the point of sitting on your stockpile , till I'm down to a few boxes and then I'll stop shooting it again

Rifles way less 223/5.56 60 to 80 rds
308 40 to 60. I shoot way less rifles due to the cost

I'll typically bring 2 to 3 calibers at a time with sometimes single or up to 3 guns.

Really depends on what I am doing. Working on a rifle handload? Verifying for hunting season? New scope?

Handgun - 50 per gun
Rifle - 20 to 60 per gun
Shotgun - 75 per gun (trap etc)

Isn't it amazing how heavy the ammo bags get?

PS - I am new AR owner, first trip to range last week, they eat more than normal rifle, fun to shoot. 100 rounds needed.

During the summer, I mostly only shoot rifles. Almost always an AR. I shoot between 20 and 40 rounds per session. I like to practice marksmanship and shoot on steel or paper from positions. I don't "plink".

With handguns, I shoot hundreds of rounds. I would say around 200 per session as a rough guess. The lion's share of my handgun shooting is done during fall/winter at a club that shoots on Friday nights. I seldom shoot handguns during the summer because I want to devote my range time to rifles.

I am also into shooting air rifles, again, on paper for groups. I do this on an indoor archery range a couple times a week and probably shoot close to 100 pellets per session. But with the air guns, I also shoot them in my basement but usually only shoot maybe 10 shots or less. I shoot a couple groups off-hand and am done. I CAN shoot other guns at home on my property, but I don't.

I probably average shooting on a range (away from home) three times a week. So, I probably shoot less per session than people who can't get to the range as much as I do.

50 rounds from my 40 caliber pistol
50 rounds from my 9mm pistol
40 rounds out of the AR-15
40 rounds out of the Colt 1911-22
25 rounds out of the Remmy 700 308

That's 205 rounds, which is a good baseline. I alternate my collection week to week. I live right next to the National Forest, so I'm out there every Saturday, weather permitting.

Usually 50-100 rnds per gun......sometimes a few more for pistol or a few less for rifle. And I'm very religious, so I go to the range every Sunday.

No less than one box per arm (unless more than one of a caliber--then it varies).
If the arm is new (or new to me) it's 4-5 boxes of ammo to figure out what the arm "likes" best )if .22lr, then about 10 boxes).

On average, outdoor range about 150 - 200 rounds each of .223 Remington and .308 Winchester. They may be fired in as few as two rifles to a maximum of maybe 5 or 6 rifles but generally 2 to 4 rifles. Most days I also take along a .22 LR and may shoot anywhere between 100 and 200 rounds. All of it really depends on what I am doing. I just loaded 150 .308 Winchester which are for a project and all 150 will be shot from one rifle (bolt gun) and shot over the chronograph with all the data saved. That will be one day at the range.

Really depends on what I am doing on any given day. Finally warm weather and the outdoor range. :)

To add to my original question, do you shoot at home or on an organized range? I shoot exclusively at home, mine or my sons. Indoor ranges are popping up here in Western MI and seem to be very popular but I haven't tried one yet.

2-300 pistol , maybe more depending how many or what I am doing there. Same for Carbines , Full length rifles never more than a hundred unless a semi auto .308 then maybe 200 max.

I shoot at a private membership outdoor range here in NE Ohio. This is always my first choice but this is NE Ohio and winters are not range friendly. Well, I am not as tolerant of cold, ice and snow as when I was younger. :)

I also have membership at a local indoor range. While OK during the winters and while they do allow rifle I am not fond of rifle at 75 feet. :) Winters see me loading and shooting more handgun but what I really enjoy is outdoor rifle.

Mostly shoot on mine or others private land. Do happen to end up at a public range a time or two a year, kinda like seeing, shooting with, and talking to people I've not yet known.

One thing I have learned about going very far from home, whether a public range or a friends place far from home,

Take way more stuff than you think you'll need. You can bring it home if not used.

200-300 per trip and thats 1-2 times a week. Thats not at a formal range. I hate those places. Range land.

When I get to go I usually shoot 50 rounds with handguns.
Usually 20 with rifle stuff, unless of course I'm testing a new load.

As far as how often I get to go, since I moved to town, I haven't been to the range in 2 years.

We did get together and do a little shooting at deer camp a couple times last year, but that's about it.

100 rounds of 7.62mm NATO through my PTR-91 (5 mags) when I take it to the range. That scratches the itch for a while. :)

Typically 500 rounds for the .22s, 150 to 200 rounds for the 9mm.s, and around 200 rounds for the .223 AR rifles.

Normally 150 through my Glock 17L,
150 through my Glock 17,
150 357 through the Ruger GP-100,
100 through a Ruger SR9,
200 through the AR.

That's about 2 times a month and sometimes 3 or 4 if I get lucky. I'm trying to double that and do it weekly.

While I am a member of an organized range I hardly ever shoot there. Only when I want to sight in a rifle or something like that. Its a good range with out to 700 yard targets but I can't stand doing the dance at the pistol range so I don't shoot there. Groups I could care less about. Yakima , WA is a shooters paradise. There are so many places to shoot on public land with natural backstops out in the sagebrush desert it boggles the mind.

I forget what movie it was where the character couldnt hit anything unless he could move. I feel like that at the range. Shooting the middle of a paper target is an insufferable bore. I save my tin cans up and throw them as far as I can and keep shooting at them until they bounce so far out of range I can't hit them or see them any more. Generally thats one handed while I walk. They frown on that at ranges. I shoot every weekend and reload 2-3 times a week.

Man I never keep track, I go out at least 2-3 times a week, and take several different firearms each time I go. When I reload I usually do enough of each caliber to keep me going for quite some time.

Sometimes I may just take, perhaps 3 different rifles with 3 different calibers, say .270, 30-06, and one of my AR-15's. The .270 and 06 will probably see between 20 and 40 rounds, whereas my AR-15 will get no less than 100 rounds. If I take my handguns out say the .45, 9mm, .44 Magnum .45 Colt, anywhere from 50 each to as low as 25 each.

Incidentally I have my own private range, where I can set up the targets, at any range my heart desires without interference from other shooters.:)

It's nice to have a private range. I can only shoot to 150 yards off my back porch but its better than traveling to a range and I can shoot whenever I want to.
