What is the Minimum amount of defensive ammo do you shoot in your autoloader before you trust your firearm and ammunition as reliable enough to protect your life?

To be honest, in my BHP's if they run two mags at speed I'm good to go. If it's going to choke because of bullet shape it's always happened to me in the first magazine or two. The BHP's seem to run anything, some of my pocket are a little more particular about bullet shape though.

I am happy with 50 rounds of a particular JHP bullet weight. I've never had an autoloader eat 50 rounds of JHP only to choke later.

Assuming that it's 100% reliable with ball ammo, I'll run through a full magazine of JHP with each mag that I have. If there are no issues with the JHP, I'm happy.

I've had a routine of 1000 problem free FMJ's followed by 25 rounds of my select SD ammo - typically Hydra shoks.
