If you counted your ammo right now, how much do you have on hand? I'm sure reloaders have a lot more but if you wish to share if you reload or not and how much you have on hand it would help us see how much the average Joe has on hand.

I do not reload but I do have about 3500 rounds for range use waiting to be used. That includes about 1000 .22LRs, 1000 9mm and 1500 misc including .45ACP, .40S&W, .357 Magnum, .25ACP, .32ACP, .38 Special and .380ACP. This includes every loaded mag I have which is every mag for each gun. I don't believe in empty mags.

How much is too much? Is there such a thing as too much if you don't believe in the Zombie Apocolypse?

My number would be somewhere 3x to 4x more if all my components were put together; but they're not. I tend to build it and shoot it.

Yep. I have a lot of components, considering we buy everything in bulk for the best prices. 5000 here, 10000 there, pretty soon you're talking real ammo...

didn't even think to count 22lr

if so, around
600 9mm
1500 22lr
400 22mag
200 assorted other cal.

Hmmmm.... I voted 2000-3000.....:scrutiny:

And just seen metalart's post.......Forgot .22 myself :uhoh:

2k of them in my toolbox at shop alone!

And then do I count what is waiting to be reloaded (all components present)
Got 4k .223 tumbled and waiting on a energetic day! :)

Wasnt thinking shotgun shells either??

I give! I have no clue...I begin to see...Ammo is like pennies, you dont know how much you got till you put it all in front of you!

To start I don't reload. But have close to 2000 rds 9mm, same for 40 S&W, more than 1000 45ACP, just over 1000 357mag, over 800 44mag, 2000 5.7x28, 950 38spl, 400+ 50AE and from there lower amounts for 380, 357sig, 22lr & mag, 410, and 45LC. No more than 300 rds for any of the last calibers. Less than 100 rds of 500S&W.

Four 50 round boxes of American Eagle fmjs for my .380 LCP.
Ten 20 round boxes for my .350magnum rifle.
That is plenty for my needs.

I am acutely aware of what I have at the moment as my girlfriend keeps trying to move it out to the garage/shop...
*.454 186 handloads. 100 empty brass and 100 lubed .360 gr slugs.
*.223 about 500 commercial rounds and components to assemble 700 more.
*.308 2000 rounds milsurp Radway Green, Malaysian L2A2, South African etc.. 500 rounds of steelcase to plink through the LAR8.
*.45acp appr 1000 rounds commercial, 200 handloads, components for another 500 handloads.
*7.62 commbloc about 200 rounds for plinking
*8mm components for another 100 failed handloads :cuss: and about 200 Yugo surplus rounds for plinking.
*380acp 250 round brick of UMC for practice
*.22lr 1800 rounds (and growing) of Federal 711B target ammo and appr 5000 rounds bulk for plinking
*Assorted 9mm, 45 Long Colt, 7.62x54R, 30-06, 300WM, and .36, .44, and .69 round ball roughly 4-500.
I have never considered myself a hoarder; I like to shoot 500+ rounds when I shoot, and I always try to buy a little more than I shoot. But looking at my own list I begin wondering 2 things: Have I admitted something I shouldn't have without a lawyer present; and 2: Maybe my girlfriend is right...:fire:
Edit: ah blast, just noticed this was hangun only, sorry

Well not counting shot shells or 22 lr I'm sitting on around 3,800 rounds of assorted ammo. But add in the 2,200 or so mess of 410 and 20g and ammo canisters of 22 lr ballparking 9-11k rounds all told.

Edit: The 410 and the 20g were for a Comanche and a "Coach" pistol.

59 rounds of .45 ACP.

Which is enough to load magazines, so every gun has a full mag. I don't reload, and just used up all but the 59 that always stays today.

Well I don't have as much as I'd like to have! :D

I voted 500-1000 for handgun ammo, but also forgot to include .22lr, so the honest answer is add 1000-2000 rounds of .22 to the rest of what I got ;)

Thing is, the more I think about it, the more of an understatement my vote was, still not even counting the .22s. I have more than I initially thought, I even have a box of .25 acp, but no .25 gun to shoot it out of...

I used to have a count in my head of what I had on hand. I don't worry about it anymore, too many calibers to keep track of levels on every one of them. I know I have more than 5000 .22LR so thats how I voted.

500-.45acp
600-9mm
1200-10mm
100-.357
150-.38
coffee can full of .22
components for lots more centerfires.

I have 5000+ 5.7x28
600 44 mag
450 357 mag
2000 45acp
160 50ae
500 45 colt
100 410 shot shells

Wait is this per gun it total because I voted per gun average. The real question is how much ammo do you stock for calibers you dont own?

Suffice it to say that it is A) just enough for me, B) too much according to scaredy cat people, and C) not enough for the preppers.

I reload for 12 different calibers and have a couple different loads for most of them.
once you figure near 20 different loadings I only need to average five boxes of each for 5,000. It's not hard to have well over 5k loaded a one time.
