how much trouble am I in?

If you are talking to me, I suggest you ratchet down a notch or two. I AM where you are. I have PTSD, and take meds for it. I AM in the gun business, and I DO have memory problems. I am however lucky that I have no problems remembering where my serial numbers are. When we came home from Afghanistan I was the only arms room in SOCOM to have come back (to date) with 100% accountability on weapons and sensitive items. That caused two seperate 15-6's because they thought I was cooking the books in order to hide the fact I had lost something.

So I KNOW where you are coming from. But YOU stated that you forgot that you left a pistol in your glove box. That shows that YOU have a problem keeping track of things. I was giving you a piece of constructive advice because I know where you are coming from and I deal with the ATF and know they are NOT forgiving, nor do they care at all what kind of issues you may have personally.

TIFWIW.

Welcome home.

Maybe I was a little harsh in some of my comments, but after being a Property Book Officer for several years responsible for several million dollars worth of equipment and not loosing anything; and now being a hand receipt holder for several hundred classified items I take property accountability seriously.

Some of my co-workers (GS-13 thru GS-15) are on the receiving end of a 15-6 right now. Not a pretty sight.

I wont be commenting on this thread anymore.

To those of you who were supportive, or at least constructive, thank you very much. Your time and effort in answering my questions is and was much appretiated.

To the moderator Pvt Pyle,

"If you are talking to me, I suggest you ratchet down a notch or two."

I did not reply to you specifically. If I had, I would have referred to you by name. If you feel singled out by my comments perhaps you should think on -why- you thought I was talking to you specifically.

To all of you who 'have never done something that stupid."; I can only hope you have the level of fortune I had when you -do- drop the ball.

roguetek, you likely qualify for legal assistance and there is almost certainly a program in your area to provide free legal assistance for situations like this. Take a look at that option, it can't hurt anything.

...

I worked security up at an Naval base in the PACNORWEST and a few years back, a cabbie, a drunken, belligerent cabbie made a big stink at one of the gates... Not being let on base... Well, she was techinically on base, but the base police contacting her asked to search her cab(there is a thing that allows searches without warrants of commercial vehicles on military/federal property)... anyhow she said "go ahead'... they found a loaded .22 jennings and confiscated it... she was fed-cited for dui and possession of a firearm on federal property... the fed magistrate dropped the gun portion and it was returned, due to no signs being posted in regards to Firearms being prohibited...
So, were signs posted? Even if they were, it seems the fed system in dealing with basically non-criminal issues has very dull teeth and tends to drop things out the door, for "non-cause"...
