How often do you SHOOT your gun "GANGSTA STYLE"?

I know many have partaken in this phenomenon at one point or another. While others have not & never will and absolutely despise the method with all their heart. With that said;

How many times have you shot a gun regardless of type while holding it sideways in a gangsta style kinda of way?

Answer the poll!, I just took Political Science and Research Methods at UNF, this past summer term and am really interested in the results!

Never a full 90 degrees, but when shooting left handed I cant the pistol slightly to line up the sights with my right eye.

When we qualify with the M4 at work we have to wear our gas mask and cant the rifle about 80-85 degrees bringing the sights in.

Worst I've done is stand bladed with my left side toward the target left arm holding my Luger fully extended, right arm behind my back.....never held a pistol 'gangsta style'.

I've never seen any benefit to "gansta style" shooting. Awkward and un-natural.

Watched the National Champion this last weekend shoot in the regionals and he canted his pistol slightly. I would assume he knows what he's doing. National chanpion 9 times.

Tried it many years ago with a Smith model 59. Backstop was a very large mountain. I know I hit the mountain, but not the target - range was about 20 yards. Never did that again. I have seen gangsta types do it at the range, target must be at three feet or less to hit, I guess. Even then I saw some miss, especially with the trick of thrusting the sidearm forward at the moment of shooting - gains another foot per second, I think...

It's a technique for opposite eye dominant shooters. Rather than squinting the dominant eye to force the other to sight, you just cant the pistol so the sights are in front of your dominant eye.

It's fun. What can I say? Heck, if you can somehow safely shoot 1911's the way they do in the movie Wanted, I'd do that too just to see if I can curve the trajectory of a bullet. Of course I would never due to safety issues. But it would be fun. =) So what if you tried to shoot Gangsta style before? What's the big deal? Doesn't mean you are one or trying to be.

i do believe that you left out a common trait of the gangster shooting style.

i think they hold it sideways as well as about a foot over their head creating a downward shooting angle and completely eliminating the ability to use the sights.

Never have, never will. Something about hot brass flying back at me isn't all the appealing. I'm right handed. Now for a leftie you might be able to get the brass into a bucket or something.

FlyinBryan, I think that is Somalia style, where they hold their Ak-47's high over their head and pray and spray IN FULL AUTO over a wall or some type of obstacle......

Sometimes when shooting with my weak hand, one handed, it seems much easier to cant the firearm between 5~15 degrees in order to shoot accurately; outside of that, no.

Never.... although I will curve the bullet once in awhile just to still if I still got it......I do wonder how the gangs are doing in getting ammo with the shortage, if they would just learn shot placement and control, they can save all the money wasted in spraying a dog house with 137 rounds just to hit the cat.

Maybe they read enough online/forum recommendations to get into reloading, and made the plunge.

I think there should be a "Gangsta Style" class in Target Shooting! It would be the ultimate challenge for marksmanship skills.......or maybe not
