I had one some years back. A reservist owned it and he and his mates used to shoot it weekends, sharing it. Lordy knows how many factory jacketed loads they put through it, they nicknamed it the brasschucker!. I got it and run thousands and thousands of heavy lead loads through it. I had a few issues with my progressive press at one stage and had a squib in the middle of a fast string and fired another round before i could stop. The gun had a huge bulge around two thirds of the barrel, not a ring, but a bulge that roughly followed the rifling for an inch or more
. I cleaned the barrel and gingerly fired another, no prob, I was away again, used it for another year putting squillions of rounds through it
.
I finally bought a replacement barrel from the importer, after sending him my barrel. Didn't cost much. I took it to my gunsmith and after a few weeks he fessed up and siad he had never fitted a barrel to a pistol. He was a shotgun and rifle smith and had never had much to do with pistols. while I was there, we studied the problem and under supervision, I filed the top of the extension until it just went into battery neatly. Boy it really shot well after that.
I lent it to a friend at a law enforcement shoot and he told me it jammed occasionally and he found loose fired primers in the action. I had told him to shoot factory loads because I didn't have time to load any for him. When I asked him what brand he used, he said he got a good deal on reloads, 500 of them. The primers were as flat as pancakes, there was soot around them and a lot had actually blown the primers out of the case. I asked him how many he shot and he said 'all 500 of them.':banghead: I junked the brass as it had extractor marks imprinted into it, bulges, stretched primer pockets, etc. The gun worked as well as ever after that. Needless to say, I dont lend that fool guns any more.
