Huge news in IL (CCW, removal of Chicago AWB)

Ok, of the two, I like Shepards response better.

It really puts things in to perspective that IL has waited six months.. and is about to force people to wait another six months, without this extension they're requesting to delay it further.

Hey.. I just got to thinking.

If the injunction is issued June 10, and UUW is gone.. but the new law takes effect immediately, and apps aren't even available for 6 months...

Doesn't that mean, in essence, that we can carry from day one?

The new law ONLY applies to concealed carry licensees.

There will be no licensees, until the IL State Police get their act together.

But there WILL be an injunction.

A clever lawyer could defend you based on the injunction effectively making OPEN carry LEGAL, while making concealed carry something you have to be LICENSED to do.

Thoughts?

Good news - Bad news

Last night, the local TV news in St. Louis were reporting about the Madison County State Attorney's statement that they would no longer prosecute people for concealed carry of a fully loaded and functional handgun. :what:

UNFORTUNATELY, KMOX Radio reported on the 11 a.m. news this morning that the ISP, Sheriffs Assoc, etc., had released a statement that they would continue to enforce the UUW statutes and that people would still be subject to arrest. :cuss::banghead:

Getting crazy out there folks!

Well, today was SUPPOSED to be the day we got concealed carry.

But we now wait ...and wait..and wait.. and maybe NEXT June, some of us will have permits.

Or not.

Anyway, rather than sit here and get all melancholy about it, I'm loading up to head to a USPSA shoot this morning.

(Rather bummed, but as with everything.. it'll pass.)
