IL Dog and Pony Show Continues

I have the perfect solution to Illinois problems. After 34+ years I'm getting the heck out! It's so screwed up it cannot be fixed. North Carolina, here I come.

I left there in 96 after 11 years as a resident because of a job. I will never set foot in that State again. The entire State Govt. should be in jail. Most of the past Governers are in jail for corruption. I don't know if Illinois invented corruption but they have pretty much perfected it. It's pretty much just like Mexico.

It's pretty much just like Mexico.
That's something that's baffled me for a long time.

Chicago has always had a large Mexican immigrant population, and it's gotten much bigger since I left.

What I don't understand is why you'd leave one sinkhole of corruption just to come to another? As I recall, quite a few of the victims of the "S.O.S." home invasion/kidnapping ring were Hispanics.

It just seems odd, like German Jews in 1935 fleeing from Berlin... to Munich.

I've lived here my entire life. But I've become so disgusted with the criminally negligent legislators (especially the screaming liberals from chicago) I'm considering fleeing myself.

I'm 61 and have lived here all of my life. I'll be retiring in the not too distant future, and it won't be in this state.
I'm not sure where yet, but I've had enough of dishonesty in government at all levels. I've had enough of a couple of families running the entire state. The roads stink, the taxes are too high, and the weather is pretty crummy too.

Now that jobs are leaving IL in droves, there's no real reason to either move here or to remain here.

If the Feds weren't almost as corrupt as this state is, they would have stepped in and cleaned house long before now.

I wish the gun owners of IL nothing but the best, and I hope the next governor to go to prison does the right thing for once and signs this bill. It's a start.

Maybe he and Blago can be roomies out there in Colorado. LOL

Newest chapter - Quinn on TV this AM (6-30-2013)

Somebody needs to tell Quinn that ugly, ignorant and a cheap suit is no way to go through life.

Did anybody else watch Quinn "discussing" the CCW bill this AM on Fox 32?

Anybody else scream at the TV like I did?

Quinn made it pretty clear he intends to amend the Illinois CCW bill at the last moment and make it an AWB, Magazine ban bill with a May Issue approach that allows every town to make it's own rules. Because after all, "every study shows overwhelmingly that the vast majority of Illinois citizens don't want people carrying around loaded guns everywhere they go". I guess I missed that study.

"I'll do everything in my power to stop this, for the safety of the Citizens of Illinois" He then launched into several horror stories of gang bang killings with "concealed assault weapons" (seriously he said that) because after all, there is no difference in this banana slugs mind (?) between a gang banger killing somebody for his corner turf and a pharmacist from Kankakee defending his family.

Currently Chicago politics is alive and well in the White House (at least Rahm Emmanual went back to Chicago after being in DC for awhile). Flee bad politics or stand one's home ground? I believe my mother's family handled the 1920s KY-WV coalfield wars and the VA Racial Integrity Act by immigrating to Tennessee. Some bads are just too big to fight as long as there is a safe haven somewhere.

There were courageous Jews who stayed in Germany after 1933.

I suspect that a larger percentage of the ones who left were alive in 1945.

So now the IL CCW business has reached Holocaustic proportions? Can you be any more melodramatic?

So now the IL CCW business has reached Holocaustic proportions?
No, Illinois LONG ago reached early 1930s NSDAP Germany levels of political corruption and oppression, not to speak of racism and anti-Semitism. Gun control in Illinois is merely a reflection of prevailing attitudes on individual liberty in general.

The point is that a tiny minority aren't going to non-violently change an entire culture based on corruption and malice.

So now the IL CCW business has reached Holocaustic proportions?

Yes, that's what it looks like. When your Governor is supporting the gang bang and drug dealer population, and trying to disarm law abiding citizens, what would you call that? Arm the brown shirts and disarm the Jews, Catholics & Union workers, does that sound familiar. Holocaust proportions? Maybe, but you won't know that until they put you into a gas chamber or have your family killed, will you.

He might do that, but it would have to go back to the legislature, who might or might not pass it intact. But given the Supreme Court Heller and MacDonald decisions a Federal Court would likely reject it. It might go all of the way to the Supreme Court again, but from their perspective that would be taking a grave risk.

Could the Chicago bosses or IL. state government (both one and the same) pass a law saying that registered Republicans could only vote in national elections? Sure - but it wouldn't stand very long. :uhoh:

I think you're overreacting. I seriously doubt Quinn will send anyone to the gas chamber over this.

Update from a source in Springfield;

Word has it Quinn will announce an amendatory veto of HB183 tomorrow. Here are the details:

Limiting individuals to carrying a single handgun with a single magazine and no more than 10 rounds of ammo.

· Changing the definition to where the handgun must be completely concealed as opposed to concealed or mostly concealed

· Banning carry in any place that serves alcohol except private clubs and residence. This would nullify the restaurant carry provisions of the bill.

· Inverting the no carry posting to make carry permissible only in places that post it is OK to carry a concealed firearm

· Allowing employers to ban firearms on their property and negate the safe harbor provisions.

· Remove the ability of individuals to get out of their vehicle and store their handguns in the trunk of their vehicle

Changing the definition to where the handgun must be completely concealed as opposed to concealed or mostly concealed

What does that mean?

Christ, who was that interviewer, one of his staffers???

She agreed with him on everything and asked him questions to make his agenda look good.

Also, CCW instructors are training people how to protect themselves, not become cops.

In Illinois, worthless scum without "clout" aren't SUPPOSED to protect themselves. They exist solely as prey for private and public sector criminals.

I hate it when I'm right.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...d-carry-bill-tuesday-20130701,0,6816106.story

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn intends to take action today on legislation that would allow guns to be carried in public, and he's widely expected to insert changes to the bill to try to put in place stricter regulations.

While Quinn would not say Monday what he plans to do with the concealed carry measure, sponsoring Rep. Brandon Phelps said the governor's office told him that Quinn would rewrite the proposal using his amendatory veto powers.

Quinn is a staunch gun-control advocate who has decried the federal appellate court decision that struck down Illinois' long-standing concealed carry ban. The ruling forced lawmakers to strike a compromise to set up rules on who can carry guns and where before a court-ordered deadline expired and left a lack of regulation on the books.

There are not that many Home Rule communities in Illinois. Most are in Cook County. And as far as I am concerned they (Cook County) can wallow in their own feces. I hope Quinn does Veto the bill, that will put him in contempt of a Federal Court Order. Happy jail day Mr. governor, Lisa will have to prosecute you and defend you, now which do you think she would rather do? (ha,ha)

Everyone is right, this State is becoming a JOKE.

Jim

Where do you come up with this stuff? "not that many Home Rule communities" means any community of over 25,000 people. That's not that many people. He's also under no court order in relation to this at all. The Federal Court ordered that the law be overturned, but gave the government some time if they would rather change it. Nothing more.

Not entirely true. Any municipality over 25,000 is automatically "home rule", but *any* municipality may "opt in", regardless of size.

(a) A County which has a chief executive officer elected
by the electors of the county and any municipality which has
a population of more than 25,000 are home rule units. Other
municipalities may elect by referendum to become home rule
units.
Except as limited by this Section, a home rule unit
may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to
its government and affairs including, but not limited to, the
power to regulate for the protection of the public health,
safety, morals and welfare; to license; to tax; and to incur
debt.

There are 205 home rule communities in IL as of last count; (page 29)
