I am guilty. Yep...I carry a snubby.

I will NOT apologize for carrying a snub .38 most of the time. In the summer (in Dixie), it prevents hyperthermia from dropping me before the muggers can reach me. In the winter (when we have any . . . :D ), my 642 in my coat pocket (with my hand wrapped around the stocks) is a faster (and sneakier :what: ) response to a close quarter threat (robber, etc.) than my .45 in a speed scabbard!

When I carry a 1911 or a Kimber Ultra, it's as a "backup" to the .38! In the extremely unlikely event I find myself in a protracted defensive situation, from cover, I have greater range, accuracy & power at my disposal. The .38's job is to keep me in one piece till I can drop to cover!

My SW 642 gets way more carry time than anything else I own, mainly due to my workplace. Where I work it is actually unsafe to carry a pistol, even a concealed one, but when I am driving to and from work, go to lunch, etc. the snubby goes in my front pocket. During my off time, it is usually my 1911 that goes everywhere.

Still saving my pennies to buy a quality holster for my 3" k-frame though.

I guilty of carrying the "new" snubby a PM9 sometimes.

I often carry it when clothing dictates. Most of my tshirts aren't real baggy and my Kimber will print under them. I can throw the little Kahr on and not print. It is also a lazy carry. I carry the extra mags in a mag pouch in my back pocket and the holster has a clip so its alot easier to put on than my traditional rig. This usually happens on spur of the moment decisions going to walmart or wherever.

If I am getting ready to go somewhere I'll wear a polo or dress shirt and carry the Kimber.

I've been considering getting a 642 latley though.

hey, neighbor!

Another Zonie here, year-round shorts are the norm for me as well. 442 in a Kramer pocket holster, but have been thinking about getting a SP101 DAO for IWB. I think it'd be alot more pleasant to practice with .38+P ammo.

I carry a 45 when I'm on duty, but off duty I usually go with my M49 Bodyguard. The summers in southwestern Idaho can be pretty warm and the best way to carry it is in an ankle holster. It may not be the quickest, but it's better then leaving it at home. It's also how I carry my backup. Interesting how reality and theory often do not go together.

No matter how many guns you carry, one should be a .38 snubby.

I agree. :)

My 642 lives in my pocket and is with me whenever I'm wearing pants. But my CARRY gun is a .45 Combat Commander. I have to admit though, that .45 pokes me in the gut more than it did 20 years ago. I think it's gotten a bit bulkier over the years somehow... :uhoh:
