Regal,

You don't know what you're talking about. A polished Glock slide and barrel WILL NOT rust. The small parts aren't tennifer treated and will rust (extractor, recoil spring, etc.). I've had one polished for 10 years. No rust. No babying.

Your picture doesn't show rust on the Glock slide. It shows sand on the slide. Helz mcfugly's picture shows the small parts rusting from what appears to be salt water exposure.

I suspect from your previous posting barrage, that you won't admit that you don't know what you are talking about. But I do know from personal experience that a polished Glock slide and barrel WILL NOT RUST.

yea after showing it off at the gunshop I had a few of the gunsmiths say I have nothing to worry about. the only way to engrave something on a glock slide is with a diamond tip. my scotchguard could never get through it. the tech at Glock couldnt say it wouldnt rust in those words but he made it pretty clear that alot of people do this and have no issues.

A 64C Rockwell layer that can't be physically separated from the underlying metal is about as scratch resistant as you can get, regardless how thin it is. Unless scotch brite pads or your polishing cream contain particles that are harder (eg diamond/silicon dioxide particles), you will never wear through the finish using those materials, unless they were applied in a way that was forceful enough to deform the underlying steel.

A rough hard surface that is not quite 64C (but is harder than the underlying steel) could defeat the finish by causing micro pits that expose the underlying steel. In other words, if you dropped it hard onto concrete, you could get a little rust spot on the corner where it landed.

I'd argue you should NOT oil the outer slide... oil could pick up sand/grit which could abrade the finish during handling/holstering. This is where you lose the little added protection from the parkerized finish.

I'm amazed how many of you guys, especially you guys that are Glockers, keep repeating the idea that the Glock has a stainles steel slide. It does not, and never has.

The tenifer treatment of the CARBON STEEL slide actually penetrates the surface of the steel by a few thousandths. You probably just polished off the parkerizing as Glock tenifers AND parkerizes the slide. The slide may not be AS rust resistant as before but it should still be better than most. The smooth surface may actually offset the roughness of the original surface. A smooth steel surface tends to be more rust resistant than a rough one that will trap water particles on its surface.

I think it looks cool. There is no reason that form can't follow function. Yours looks pretty cool.

I am amazed that you came to that conclusion with this thread. I only recall two people saying that the slide was stainless, and neither of them claimed to be a "glocker". Are you trolling this glock thread too?

you CAN get a stainless slide but factory slides are not stainless. unless you're Will Smith, his come factory stainless

I got the Malibu Barbie dress up set for it, :p
Do you think I can still carry it concielled?

What is that supposed to mean? Did I say something that was offensive or inflammatory in any way? I think not.

BTW, I had to take ljnowell off my ignore list to see where the heck this was coming from. You can look at my posts of the last few seeks and see just how many times he has followed me to other threads and posted some nonsense or another right after my posts. It seems I have a stalker for some childish reason.

Helz, I'm hardly a troll. Check your facts before you start name calling.

Finally, I do stand corrected and it was only two. It does alos show my point that ljnowell took the time to not only read my post and then research and reread in an attempt to descredit me for some personal reason so whatever. Helz, I apologize for the misunderstanding on my part. I'll be sure to avoid any of you threads in the future as obviously the information I gave and the compliment to your weapon meant nothing of use to you.

Good luck.

PS. If I used the term "Glockers" and your were offended by me implying you liked GLocks, I apologize.

I told him Ide trade him this CZ70 .32 ..lol thats an even trade no?

Oh god, It doesn't look like a SIGMA!!! I love my M&P but Smith did NO justice with the Sigma. It looks like a Chinese water pistol copy of a Glock. Your looks much better than a Sigma!

BTW. I'm from Minnesota originally and Trolls are good luck to Norwegians.

I guess with the scope mount (which I received today in the mail) I can get those robbers out in the shed from my bedroom window. and should be fun at the range. that red dot I had on there is a walmart special and is a POS.
