I was curious with the passage of reciprocity in Nevada, apparently it will be with states that have equal requirements as the state of Nevada.

I read on another forum that Utah will not have reciprocity because they don't require a live fire qualification to obtain the conceal carry permit, such as they do in Nevada.

My question for those that have the Utah permit is this:

-I qualified with a 10 round qualification when I did my conceal carry class in Utah and thought it was standard. Is that not the case? On the state's BCI page it says one of the requirements is: "Weapon Familiarity Certification. Applicants must complete a firearms familiarity course certified by BCI. The course must be completed before you apply for a permit. "

What exactly is this and do you think it will qualify for reciprocity with Nevada?

Miss read post. I'm pretty sure that Utah's CCL will have reciprocity. Idaho won't. Idaho requires proof of class, but that class can be 100% lecture without hands on. Utah requires some form of hands on, which is the same as Nevada.

If the Utah CCL doesn't have reciprocity then Florida CCL should cover it. I can't answer how to get one though without physically going to Florida :(

Nevada WILL have reciprocity with Utah. The paperwork has gone through all the hoops it has to go through and is just a matter of time before it gets finalized, and it won't be very much time at all. I just found this out tonight from one of the gentlemen that helped to get it worked out.

Any info on Florida/Nevada reciprocity? I have a Fla CWL and that would fill in a nice chunk of the country.

Utah requires you complete the class, and they provide the mandatory curriculum. Part of that is you demonstrate "familiarity" with the gun. However you don't have to actually do any live fire.

I'm cool with that. I can teach a monkey to shoot a piece of paper. The mechanics of shooting are the easy part. I spend most of my class trying to teach you how to make good decisions.

I was just reading it.

Section 5, part 2c sounds like you have to demostrate competence with each seperate semi-auto. Section 5 part 6f sounds to me like you have to file for EACH semi-automatic you plan on carrying.

Do you Neveda guys actually gotta do that? That blows.

Yes, That Blows

There was an amendment this session that was supposed to give us something equivalent to Arizona's "qualify with anything, carry anything" rule.

Anderson (Reno) got hold of it and changed it to "qualify/carry any revolver, but qualify/list each make & model of auto."

He's something of a [not very High Road] [expletive].

Prior to this, we had to itemize the revolvers, too.

* Sigh *

You know, it's kind of like your driver's license, where they make you list every make and model of car you're qualified to drive. My DL reads like the stock list at a used car lot. Kidding. :D

But . . . can you imagine?
"I'm sorry sir, we'll have to impound your car."
-
"What? Why?"
-
"Your license doesn't show you rated for an automatic transmission in a truck of this make. You're rated for stick shift only."
Sheesh.

Is it likely that this will be effective in N. Las Vegas? I drive with firearms unloaded and locked away specifically because of that section of the I-15 when travelling. If I could OC or CC with my UT non-res for all of NV I would be thrilled.
