My wife started going to the range with me a few weeks ago, after not shooting for something like 40 years. Today we shot a Savage Mk II with CCI standard velocity ammo. Target was at 50 meters. In the pic below, my hits are covered with black pasters. You can see her 5-shot group in the 1/2" bull. Next time we go, I'm just gonna have her do all the shooting and I'll pick up brass. Or drink beer.

Don’t sell yourself short. I bet you could pick up brass AND drink beer.

I like taking the girlfriend with me to the range & when the big time distance shooters get on the long gong range, I set her down with my AK74 & let her work over the gongs at the end of the range. For most of the shooters with their high priced guns can't take it then get up & leave. LOL

Channeling her inner Annie Oakley! Seriously, I don`t think they are as ham handed as we are in many cases. Why shouldn`t they be good at something that benefits from a fine touch? Those Russian gals during WWII were REAL good. Just ask the Germans.

The last time I had my granddaughter out to yhe range she out shot her boyfriend at 100yds and 300 meters. Her first time shooting her 243 win, his first experience with centerfire rifles. I really didn't shoot much, but did put a few rounds downrange mostly to demonstrate fundamentals for her boyfriend.

I have a largely uneducated theory: Women tend to have better fine motor control than men.
I further theorize that this is due to lower metabolism, and the lack of the Jason Bourne soundtrack running in their subconscious every time they pick up a gun.

Combined with the ability to listen to instructions, we just can't compete!

As a result, they tend to shoot better than men, at least until fatigue sets in.
I don't stand a chance. Not only is my wife younger than I am, she's in better shape. So, I become fatigued before she does. :uhoh:
Just kidding around, mostly. My wife has always been better than me with handguns. In fact, she's better than a lot of men with handguns. When it comes to rifles though, I have the edge. And with shotguns, it's not even a contest - even though I'm not all that great with shotguns, I think I could almost outshoot my wife and her 20 gauge with my eyes closed. :neener:

Took my girlfriend out for her first time shooting a rifle and she grabs my brand new Mark II. I had a target setup at 100yard and orange 2x2 blocks. I look at the target and no holes in it and tell her she missed. She says no, I’m shooting the blocks and almost all the blocks are gone. I also let her shoot my 50cal in-line and she drilled the bull first shot.

And here I thought that was scientifically proven years ago. If it hasn't been, I don't want to know. I can accept my inferiority if I'm convinced it's naturally occurring. Otherwise it might be downright depressing.

Well this thread has run its course and has wondered far from the topic and I also have had a bad day on the poker machines so Im closing this one down folks.

Some times the female will have a lighter touch. Our 15 year old is a dead eye then just walks away.
