Well I'M late to this thread, but I can hardly forgo the obligatory perplexed grimace.

there.

they are so good the Rapid Tactical Force at one of America’s largest indoor retail shopping areas uses them

Hahaha! I get it. And a legend was born or rather a stereotype. :D

Alright I can no longer resist...

This may not be productive, but c'mon, who didn't get a giggle out of...

you can spell high quality S-I-G S-A-U-R.

I'd like to buy a vowel.

Guys,

It should be no secret that Gudel has strong dislikes for SIGs (for a faulty mag release) and 1911s by now, as well as being a huge HK fan by now. He's strongly stated that long ago. All of our opinions may differ from his(Heck I'm a huge 1911 and SIG fan), but opinions are usually formed from past experiences (and hopefully not from what we read on the internet :D ).

I've disagreed with many of his posts since the beginnings of time (sometimes wondered if he OD'ed on the HK kool-aid), but he has been a contributing member for a long time. We may not all share into his bias, but we can at least contribute per his requirements.

gudel

He has far more experience than some of you may think. He raised many questions on the 1911. As I recall he did not find satisfaction in the Colt brand. He tried one of the firest Sig GSR 1911 pistols and got a hold of a really bad one. He was not alone in the GSR debacle. I would think this soured him on the Sig Sauer name.

It is not often that I would seek to defend a poster, but in this case I just can't hold my peace.

It appears he is a gentleman enough not to reply to some of these rather ascerbic comments which I read. Personally, I ever made a post and received these types of comments, I would never post here again.

In fact, this is my last post here.

So in the hope of being actually helpful, I'd say for the next two, get a HK P7M8 (don't know your budget) and a Browning Hi-Power. I'd love to get either of those.

Wow - lots of sarcastic posts.... Even for my taste & I have been known to be a bit sarcastic my self.

First off - I don't blame him for putting 1911s on his list of guns he does not like.
I love them and own a Colt made in 1943 that is great, but they can be very unreliable. I bought a 2,500 Wilson that jamed about every 30 rounds and that is not uncommon. Some 1911s are amazing out of the box - others are terrible - and for what they can cost the level of reliability should be much higher - not such a mixed bag. If he had a Sig 1911 I must say I've heard lots of negative things about them as well.

All that aside - to answer the question that he posed:
HK USPc
XD Compact
XD Subcompact
S&W Model 457 ( would have to be used )

All of these pistols I have owned or seen in action. They shoot straight & are reliable.

I apologize

Quote: I'm interested in high quality pistols only, so no 1911 or sig.

...

Not knowing the OP, but now understanding his comment, and the fact, as supported by some other posters statements about him, and his bad luck with Sig's 1911, that the OP got a Sig 1911 Lemon, which I believe, as I have read, and heard, bad stories about them, and now understand his reasoning for the above quote.

I apologize for my statement on page 1, as he was right, and I was wrong, in that, I didn't put the "no 1911 or sig" together.

I wish him well in his search for his next 4 quality gun purchases..

Signal-to-Noise

Guys,

Surprisingly poor signal/noise ratio in this thread.

I don't think it's beyond redemption, but I would, in light of Snake Eyes' post #25, recommend that some of you go back and clean up your posts.

Or, I can go through the thread myself and start doing some housecleaning.

The OP should probably add a little explanatory note to his post, clarifying that his own experiences have put him off certain brands and/or types.

Ridicule is pretty low road, guys.

I can agree that "can I buy a vowel" was pretty funny, but it's still not real signal.

So, shall we clean it up and try to make some actual recommendations?

Well, a couple of hours have past and no one seems to want to take ArfinGreebly up on his generous offer of allowing you to clean up your mess - with one exception. (Chem Geek, thank you.)

I'm closing this one just to stop the bleeding from the long fall off the high road for almost every single poster in this thread.
