thanks for all of the comments and stuff. im still thinking about it and i still have 4 or 5 days or longer if i need to make a decision. ill post what i bought when i get back from the gun shop sometime next week.
Rent or borrow as many as you can and than decide. As you can see, there are alot of differing opinions. I've shot some great guns that I couldn't shoot well because they didn't fit me. Happy chosen.
You have to trust your own instincts on this...personally, for my preference, I'd rather have the P239 or a P228, but if you like the XD9, that is a very good choice.
CDNN is my god...+1 on the CDNN Hi power or Sig 226 or Walther p99 or Glock 17/19. You won't go wrong with any of those and all have good 3rd party support in terms of mags/sights other add ons. Or Get the Steyr and a whole crapload of ammo
Still above the original poster's max. See a P7 for $600 and it a) hot, b) seriously messed up or c) the sellers must be really desperate. At $600 a older P7PSP would maybe last a day at the shop. If it was an M8, I doubt the clerk would barely have time to put a take on it; at any rate it wouldn't make it into the case.
Springfield XD 9 is a good choice, well worth the money, I also Like the Taurus PT-145 new or used lifetime Warranty. Just bought a CZ or CZ clone model CZ TT45 ( Witness Polymer), only problem I had was the MEC-GAR magazines were defective, did get free replacements, gun is very reliable. If buying used check to make sure there are no broken or defective parts, use snap-caps to check decocker if applicable. Most dealers don't take the time to check used firearms. Before you buy check the gun carefully also. Have found used Police firearms that were defective and needed to be refurbished or needed new frame / slide/ barrel etc., when ever possible buy new will save you time and money. Try several out and see which ones feel best in your hands. There are good used firearms on the market get to know your gun dealer(s).
