I just cannot warm up to the M&P9 trigger pull.

Amen priler! The PPQ has the best trigger of ANY polymer striker fired gun I've shot.

The difference between the PPQ and M&P is night and day. I purchased a PPQ 9mm after shooting one. You couldn't GIVE me an M&P. TJ

Yes HUGE kudos to Walther. They are not that expensive either. - PPQs are $590 or less online and the P99 AS around $551.

$600 for a Polymer gun isn't expensive??? More expensive than most polymer guns that aren't H&K...and we all know they hate us anyway...

I only noticed because he was doing the slide rack just as I teach it and then I noticed the orange tipped snap cap

yep, you were definitely right. i watched that part of the episode, and they were just practicing function drills.

couldn't watch the whole episode, too much drama on that show lol

I have 2 M&P's a .40 cal pro series trigger is very good, and a reg series .357 sig trigger is very noticeably not as good, but the gunsmith at my favorite gun shop says it is very easy to correct

I've got to say that after learning how to take the gun apart from the Burwell pdf and polishing the trigger bar, sear and striker the trigger is much better. The grit is gone, the trigger pull is a little lighter and the over travel is not as bad. I plan on cutting the sear as soon as I can find a suitable stone. My M&P9 is just about perfect now. And no need for a pricy Apex kit. yaaay

Necro ... I know. But wanted to relate that the most recent M&P I fingered at the GS, an M&P 9C, and not an M&P Pro, had a pretty awesome pull. I asked the guy twice to make sure they were new and unmodified, and he said brand new, from the distributor. The trigger pull and break was simply excellent. Two or three centimeters to the break with no stacking or sponginess, then a very very clean and smooth break, with little over travel. Compared to the M&Ps I tried when they first came out it was like a different weapon. The reset still blew chunks to next week and back. But the trigger pull and break was awesome for a stock pistol. I was impressed. So be aware the newest model M&Ps are much improved (except the horrid reset).

I've switched back to my Glock 17 for now because I'm just not confident enough with my accuracy using the M&P9. I'm considering one of three things: trying to train to over come it (which seems impossible after 2 months of attempting that), doing a trigger job (apex tactical most likely) or sticking with my Glock 17 for good.

me too

i had two m&p's and honestly couldn't shoot worth a darn with either, no matter how much i practiced.

i sold them, and still have my glocks, which i shoot exceptionally well.

If you aren't comfortable with the stock trigger, get the APEX trigger. Don't overthink this. It's pretty cheap. I haven't seen the need to do this on either of my M&Ps, but I've heard great things about the trigger. It improves weight and the reset.

Palmetto State Armory has Walther PPQs in their store (but not online for some reason) for $529.

That's quite a bargain for an excellent piece of Tupperware with a much nicer trigger than an M&P or Glock.

the reset is indeed shorter than a stock glock, but the break is imperceptible/mushy. a glock can be made with that short of a reset with a ghost rocket, and plus you have cheap parts available everywhere.

I have tried about 3 PPQs now dry firing and I found the triggers to be anything but imperceptible/mushy and actually very crisp. Then there is the diference in the grip with the PPQ having it all over the Glock - at least for me. Don't get me wrong as I have a Gen2 Glock 19 (and have held Gen3/4) that I really like but I have been very impressed with the PPQ.

m&p's with apex parts still don't have as good a trigger pull as glocks.

I have three M&Ps...a .40 FS, a .40c and a 9c and all of them out of the box have better triggers than any Glock I used to have. I personally see no need for the Apex stuff, as my factory triggers are great as is...
