I just realized I'm way Way to out of shape for Armagedon!

I don't know if this is a rationalization or not, but I think that the fact that many of us have even thought about what to do when the SHTF puts us miles ahead of most of the sheeple.

That's not rationalization, believe me. The vast majority of our fellow Americans are woefully complacent and oblivious to everything around them. They think spending hundreds of dollars on a widescreen television is a wise decision but buying additional food, water, First Aid supplies, etc. is a waste of money. The only time the words "what if" enter their minds is in reference to choosing vacation spots or selecting a new car. I cannot tell you how many times I've been ridiculed as paranoid because I'm ever watchful and aware of my surroundings, or labeled a survivalist simply because I was raised to plan for contingencies.

Oh well, just so long as they don't come knocking on my door looking to be rescued from their own stupidity and short-sightedness. (Unless they're female, attractive, and willing to barter services ;) :D )

Glad to see I'm not the only procrastinator in the world :D

20 odd years ago when I was in my 20s, I had a 'walking around' weight of around 180lbs and would train down to under 175 (Light Heavyweight) for competition.
I was deeply into amateur boxing and full contact martial arts at the time, and trained EVERY day with very rare exceptions- gym, sparring, road work, swimming, cycling, stretching, etc.
Varied things a lot between heavy and light days, and lots of different activities.
I was never a 'natural' athlete, but I beat a lot of 'natural athletes' with grit and superior fitness.

Oh, and I did my day's work on the farm too! :D

Then, for some reason that now escapes me, I stopped. Cold. Nothing.
I guess I needed a break, but this one has lasted 20 years!!!

Slight technical hitch: I kept eating as if I was still taking all that exercise!!!

I'm now around 250lbs, and have 'problems' with stuff like running, climbing, putting on socks, etc. :(

Like Wildalaska, shooting prone is something that's only attempted as a last resort :D

I've lately taken to throwing a rifle over my shoulder and going for a hike around the farm (most days), and I notice an improvement in my stamina and the weight has even started to creep down.
I find I need a 'reason' of some sort to take exercise, working out for it's own sake doesn't last long with me.
Telling myself that I'm protecting the crops from rabbits and crows or reducing the number of hares nipping off my new trees is the incentive I need to actually get me out there doing something.

Sometimes I even get to shoot at something! :D

Though I am stating the obvious:

Get out and do stuff.

Physical activity of any sort, even walking around the block, makes a big difference.

Eat as much as you need, not as much as you want.

The better shape you are in, the better your outlook on life is.

i am determined to stay in shape, i am pretty fit from my hauling work.

i always remmber this commercial when i was little-
it had a bunch of 65+ dudes working out, all tough, (drinking milk i think)

i was like - "that's gonna be me. 65 and still all muscle".

BEST= visiting home 5 years after HS, awile back, all my friends asked
"how is it, we all got wider here (stomach), and you only got wider there (chest/shoulders).
