I know it's not "firearm" related but it's definitely gun and fun related. I live in the suburbs and am about 45 min. away from the nearest outdoor range so I broke down and bought an airsoft 1911. What a blast! El Presidentes in my own back yard! Solo cups dropping like bowling pins. Not as good as the real thing but my grin doesn't seem to know the difference.

My wife got me one several years ago, and I kind of laughed it off. But in the winter months I now find myself shooting it quite a bit indoors. I just use a pop case box, stuff it with newspaper and slap a target on front. It does bring quite a bit of enjoyment.

I love airsoft too!

I know some people will say they would rather spend that money on real guns, but with real guns you can't shoot up your friends and have fun. And airsoft is cheap too. Thousands of rounds for less than $20. Plus with airsoft, one can own a gun that would be legally/financially impossible to own in real life, happy switch included (M249 SAW, Minigun, and so on).

Any airsofters on this board?

For me Airsoft doesn't really scratch the itch, but a good quality airgun does. I want the accuracy that comes with a real pellet and rifled barrel. I have a RWS C225 that is quite literally an identical replica of a SIG P225, it is a bit heavier then the real thing and has a better trigger as well.

My Airguns scratch my itch more then the one airsoft I own. No disrespect to those who like the Airsoft stuff of course.

I play paintball and my paintball gun is fully automatic. That's fun too but not as cheap as airsoft.

I'm a huge airsoft nerd, stemming from my background in potato guns and air cannons. I love the ability to watch the projectiles in flight, especially. I've got a P90 shooting 22 balls a second, and that just makes me grin.

My favorite airsoft gun, though, is unfortunately not a "real" firearm copy, because it's a flame thrower :p. I actually got into airsoft via the "home-made BB machinegun" craze that was kicking up around 2004 in the spudgun hobbyist world.

This is my "gun": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri03AmOEnL8

Hey a fellow "flamethrower: enthusiast. While not as crazy in the performance as yours it gets the job done.

Along with that I am also into airsoft guns, and have amassed quite the collection. I just recently bought my first real gun though, an AR-15 from my neighbor.

maybe not that much. But I am ALMOST as cool as that dude.
I save my pink camo for the bedroom.

Wow, is that a Piper's model? Nice! Good to see some other BBMG guy here (I love the handle, too; FMJ is a fantastic flick).

I went back to Nashville Airsoft today and measured the total range I could get with the hop up fully engaged at 130psi with .25g BBs: 115 yards! And that's with the barrel at a level position, not lobbing BBs! Wooo! :)

i have an airsoft 1911, is yours the orange? get it from wally world?

harmless enough to not hurt but scare the neighborhood cats off my roof :D

Naw its a custom, I took some pics from a few spudgun sites and kind of ran with it. Changed a couple dimensions and for some crazy reason it turned out.

Anyway here is the rest of the wall. And try to lay off the comments...I know it is kind of lame, but its something that actually gets me outside for some exercise.

Anyway if you guys have any questions feel free to ask, I would be more then happy to help any of you out. The least I can do for all the information I have gotten from these boards.

I was thinking about getting a couple air soft pistols like my actual handguns. a PX4 and a P345.
From what little I have read, there are spring loaded, "gas" powered and pump.
Which is the way to go? And, what is a good brand?

Used to do airsoft back in the day, after about umm...6 years its sort of lost its appeal to me. Still have all my gear, and flipping the happy switch on an upgraded G36 still never fail to bring a smile to my face as I hose down some unsuspecting shrubbery.

Also right now trying to bring one of my GBBs back from the dead so I can have some fun 'round the house plinking. (busted filling valve on magazine)

You might be out of luck, aside from cheapy spring guns I wouldn't waste your money on, no one makes either model yet. The closest I have found is a Cougar.

Generally, airsoft companies make what sells, so 1911s, SIGs, Berettas (the main stream models, 92f, M9....etc) even a few revolvers (they make a few Ruger copies), are all represented, they even make an FN 5.7, but I have heard questionable reviews. Let me know if there is anything else. PMs might be better too, I don't wanna clutter this place up to much..

Also an add in as I am sure this will be asked. Sites of interest

My team sight wolf-recon.com

Redwolfairsoft.com: the site linked to above, overseas, great selection, decent service, expensive shipping but very fast (like two day air)

Airsoftgi.com: located in CA, decent shipping time, great prices, don't have everything.

i live in a rented house next to a 3 unit apartment building. we have a shared front and back yard and some of my next door neighbors LOVE airsoft. i mean they love i to the point of leaving literally tens of thousands of those neon plastic balls everywhere. there are mounds in the lawn where somebody spilled a whole container of them and i find them on my car all the time. not to mention when they are playing with their friends going outside to your car means dodging shots.

the landlord nearly had a heart attack when he tried to mow the lawn the last time.

I took about a thousand of the balls i collected and poured them all over their entryway. seems asking them to clean up after themselves dosen't work but when they had to clean off the entryway it seemed to get the point across and they haven't had an airsoft party here since.

Yeah... I never understood the people with the facetube videos that have no mention that their MP5 or whatever they're showing off on the internet isn't a real gun. They say "This is a Heckler & Koch MP5..." and I think, "No. It's an airsoft gun buddy."

I'm sure they're a lot of fun and I may have to look into it. I have an unfinished basement and a Colorado winter ahead of me.

My one looming question was, "Do you/they pick up the projectiles?" It seems like that might get obnoxious really quickly, especially to the people not shooting them.

they get very obnoxious. they do not bury themselves in backstops like real bullets. instead they sit on the ground like little neon acorns. and when you hit one with the lawnmower its like firing it out of the gun all over again.

after an airsoft war picking up the tons of projectiles just isnt feasable. what is feasable is to play out in the woods or on your own property where your not bothering anyone with the mess left behind.

hmmmm..maybe i should develop a biodegradeable airsoft round......

They do exist, but they're not cheap. Figure out a way to make them affordable, and you'll be a millionaire.
