Maybe...

I got a hankering for another .41. After several weeks of fruitlessly looking into buying a lower priced, used GP-100 .357 to send to Gary Reeder for a .41 Special conversion, I bid on a couple of stock Blackhawk.41 Mags to compliment my Redhawk. (A Bisley woulda been sweet, but they’re priced a bit out of my range.)

I kept losing the auctions, so when a nice 6.5” with Pachmayr grips showed up I bid what the last one went for.

I guess the old rubber grips weren’t appealing, as it sold for a bunch less than the others did.

So after winning, I sent the difference to Chad at Chigs for some English Walnut panels while I waited for shipping and the mandatory 10- day penalty box (for the children!).

I picked the gun up Sunday and cleaned it, the new grip panels came in the mail today .

I can’t wait to go out and shoot it, once I get back from a quick trip I’ll hit the range and wring it out.

I think this Ol’ hogleg will be the last handgun I’ll buy in Covid-ruined 2020. However... If I see an auto I just can’t live without... o_O

Stay safe.

Here’s what you do (if you don’t already have a Ruger Bisley). You look at all your standard single action framed revolvers and then tell yourself “A Bisley will have a different grip and it’ll just throw my aim off. Since I am a crack shot the Bisley will just be an embarrassment to me.” That’s what I do...

What...It works! Try it...stop laughing, I’m serious!

Seriously, that’s a nice Sixgun. Love those grip panels. I have been thinking I need a Blackhawk as well. I want a .45 Convertible. I figure I can also use it as a backup for CAS since I only have two Vaqueros now.

Hi...
Yeah...I keep telling myself that this is the last gun I am buying this year.
About 8 or 9 times this year...something always seems to catch my eye and well...you know the rest of that story.

Nice .41 BlackHawk...I have a couple of BlackHawks in .41Mag, they are great revolvers. I think my three screw .41BlackHawk may be the most accurate single action revolver that I own.

I posted a cry for help a couple of months ago asking you guys to talk me out of buying a Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag.
Well it worked but unfortunately it's still there and I happened to see it last week. Now seeing your new acquisition it's got me thinking about it again.
Dang it!!!

Is the only way I can save you to buy it out from under you? I may be willing to make that sacrifice...

.41 Special? Never heard of it. Is it a trimmed-down .41 Magnum or a stretched .41 Long Colt or something else?

Sweet! I never got the .41 bug but I know some folks who have and don't want to be cured. Enjoy!

It’s a semi-wildcat round, basically a cut down magnum. Starline makes brass and there may be a .41 Spl. factory load or two, but it’s not a SAAMI-CIP standardized round. It’s an in between; a bit more than the .38 and a bit less than the .44 special. This allows for some .357 sized firearms to have enough steel in the cylinder to be made into a 6 shooter rather than the .44 sized rounds being 5-shots (GP-100 for example.)

Since I load for the .41 Mag, backing off the loading dies a bit let’s me load special-length rounds easily.

Stay safe.

...Ruger sells replacement Bisley and Birds Head grip frames for the BH...

With the hammer and grip change available I just may swap it out. I really like the feel of my Bisley .32 H&R. I haven’t held the larger frame Bisley yet, how that feels will probably be the determining factor :).

Looks great! I love Blackhawks

Im a fan of them and the single six

Stay safe.

You could say im a fan... The wrangler im currently converting to birds head is my sixth SS, not including the BH. I think im the only person with a $400 wrangler, that is in 12 pieces on the bench! Not to mention the 12+ hours of polishing to the grip... My Bisley is a 32 H&R

I figured the 4 5/8" 41 magnum Blackhawk would be the last handgun I bought this year. It was just a few months ago, an incredibly lucky find, almost pristine, and shoots like a dream. (It also keeps my longer barrel 41 Blackhawk company.) It's not like I buy handguns all the time. Then two weeks ago I got an unfired Ruger Old Army, adjustable sights, long barrel and stainless. Since we're running out of 2020 (finally) I guess the ROA will be the last handgun this year. Darn! Life is hard sometimes. :D

Sounds like your year was pretty fruitful, those two new additions are nice ones to have .

It is good to see good folks acquiring good sixguns. :)

I have been a fan of the .41 Magnum since the Eighties, when I carried an S&W Model 58 duty revolver. I finally admitted to myself that I have K/L/GP100-length fingers and thumbs, for DA shooting, and semi-retired my Model 58, about 1990. Then, my big bore sixgun attention shifted to single-action revolvers, in the late Nineties. I have not quite gotten around to acquiring a ,41 Mag single-action, though there have been several near-misses, but there is no envy, as I am glad for y’all. My chance will will eventually be realized.

I have my eye on some single-action sixguns, including a few Blackhawks, at a large local dealer, though none are .41, at the moment.

Not bad... my last buy this year is a HK VP70Z.

I have a S&W Model 57 6" and a Model 58 4". Damn good guns, wish I still had the the old model Blackhawk in .41 that I shot as a kid.
