I want it back

Ruger Old Vaquero high gloss stainless 4 3/4 inch .45LC got it for a birthday present back in '98 or '99
sold it for spending money during college (women):fire:

A little Ruger Standard .22, one of the first guns I bought 40+ years ago.

Guns should carry a warning (maybe to replace the one that says read the owners manual), something like "If you ever sell this gun you might regret it".

I sent a 4" GP100 down the gun trade trail a few years back.
It's not something that makes me sick to think about it or anything, but if I could do it over, I'd keep it.

I bought a NIB Gp100 in 1990 after my son was born and got nervous about having a handgun in the house with kids around. Sold it back to the same LGS (unfired, money back).
Guy thought I was crazy, which wouldn't have missed the mark by much. I regretted it until my son went to college and my wife bought me a GP100 exactly like it.

(1) Colt Woodsman w/6" underlug barrel and adjustable rear sight, (2) Remington Model 7 in 7mm/08,(3)Marlin 336 in .35 Rem,(4) Remington Model 700 in 30.06(my first centerfire rifle),(5) Ruger Blackhawk .357 mag,(6)Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag w/6& 7/8" barrel. I know there are others but I can't type through the tears......

A Marlin Golden 39A levergun, bought around 1973, with the old "half-cock" safety. Ran afoul of a crooked PoS "local yokel" and wasn't helped by an incompetent "female dog" lawyer. She didn't tell me that, here in Illinois, certain "unlawful use" charges require the defendant prove they are "eligible" to use specific exemptions to those charges.
In other words, you are guilty until you can "prove" your innocence.
That's Illinois for you.

I cry every night.

I honestly don't know why I sold this but I've kicked myself in the butt every since I did.:banghead:

High Standard Supermatic Citation 106 Series. It had a 7" fluted barrel, barrel weights and compensator with the original accessories box. I think that they made them in 66 and 67. This one was 99%.:(

Norinco 213 9mm. Had the opportunity to purchase two of them for $180 OTD. I only bought one, cleaned it up and smoothed out a few of the rough spots, polished the feed ramp and shot the heck out of it. Paid $90 OTD on a whim, sold it with 4 or 5 mags and about 350 rounds Wolf FMJ for $350. I wish I had both of those.

I can't think of any that I pine for. Part of me would love to have every single gun I've gotten rid of PLUS all the ones I've traded for with them. But that's just greedy :)

When I've traded guns it has been because they did not meet my needs any longer or (lately) because I'm very aware that my arthritis will, over time, push me more and more in the direction of revolvers, and that I could no longer rack the slide on a couple of firearms that I've traded.

There is one I wish I still had AND could still shoot (and neither is true). That's my old .44mag Ruger Super Redhawk. But no way would my hands be able to handle the recoil anymore. (Although it IS a revolver... :neener:)

So...no, no regrets.

Firearms of my life

:) Only one firearm I regret selling: A Colt 68 Gold Cup and yes another 1911A1 NRA firearm my Dad purchased through the DCM program. It was loose slide to frame for I tightened it up using a vice and boy would it shoot.

Now being 66 years old I am stuck with 12 handguns and maybe 35 long arms. I still enjoy the range with 45acp and 223 Rem fodder. I got a bad eye now detached retina that has been repaired but not perfect. Must have been the 35 whelen with the 250 grain jacket bullet that did it.
I dearly love my 1903 Springfield that I as a gunsmith converted to a 17HMR rimfire, with marlin clip and M1922 bolt modified, bore lined with a stainless liner in .17 caliber. That is one I wil never sell or trade. They will have to put it in my coffin. :neener:

We all have done it.

Sorry, Russ, I never have sold any gun that meant anything to me. I only sell one if it's a triple duplicate.............. and then - most of the time - I give it to a close relative or friend as a gift rather than sell it.

I've sold 11 guns in my life and I only regret one of them: A blued Remington 870 Express 12ga with 6 round side saddle and 6 round butt cuff...Gosh I really REALLY want that gun back. I even offered to re-buy it from the guy I sold it to, but he doesn't want to and I don't blame him.

My very first "rifle" a Crosmann airrifle in the model of the M1 that could hold 22 round steel BB's. I bought it at the age of at 11 with my saved pocket money.

Didn't sell it, gave it away:banghead:

And then there was my Marlin 1894 in .44 mag,(c)1971. I gave it to my nephew for his 16th birthday with the stipulation that he never sell it. I last saw it in a pawn shop for 8 times what I originally paid for it.

S&W Model-28. Action like butter, pointed itself.
Carl Gustav 7mm Rem Mag Bolt action.
CZ .22lr Training Rifle.

I have a very long list of should not have sold/traded/loaned. Some highlights: Colt New Service .45 ACP & a Police Positive Special .38 special, both with barrels bobbed professionally to 2". The PPS looked like a Detective Special and may have been a special run from the Colt factory. Ruger .22 Auto 6 1/2" barrel, Ruger Speed Six .357, 2 3/4" Barrel, Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag, 5 1/2" barrel, Thompson Center TC 93 rifle in .30-06, Howa Rifle in .308 Win. with a Hogue Overmolded Stock (3/4" groups @100 yards with Remington factory ammo). The list is long:eek:.

Long Branch Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1- smooth, accurate and in great shape; it seemed like I could hit most anything with this rifle

Norinco M14 type 'paratrooper' rifle- it was a little crude but for the price I couldn't pass it up

Oh well.

Well, besides the Sears double I mentioned earlier, there was a Colt 22 Peacemaker, 4 5/8" barrel. One of the ones with a steel frame, and the crossbolt safety, a "GS" model I believe, that I'd like to have back. :banghead:

I'm sure I'll think of others. :D

Like the Ruger Speed-six, 2 3/4" barrel, blue, tylers T grip...and a Model 19....

OH forget it.

My first rifle...Remmy Nylon 66
other one was one of the very last "3-Screw Old Model" .357 Blackhawks w/6-1/2" barrel

Oh yeah...and in a moment of utter foolishness***..a marlin Camp Carbine in .45ACP
