If all your guns had to come from one manufacturer...

Just to be patriotic, I would choose Ruger and be grumpy and unhappy as I don't love their guns. I do have a mini-14 that I love and a 10/22 that is ho hum.

No one has mentioned Springfield Armory?

M1A
1911
XD
M1 Garand clone
FAL clone
G3 clone
they also own Astra and Tanfoglio

Sturm, Ruger & Co.

best all around firearms manufacturer... revolvers, pistols, shotguns and rifles.. even had the hands down best black powder pistol..

not saying they are the best at everything, but they do dabble in each area of the firearm realm..

Saying that.. I miss the AC-556F

Other than Holland & Holland?

CZ in a skinny minute.

Although I do own weapons by other manufacturers which I'll never sell.

Interesting question. Never really thought about it before.

I want rifles, pistols, and revolvers. Shotguns eventually.

I like Browning's pistols and rifles, but to my knowledge they don't do a revolver.

While CZ covers a lot of ground, I don't remember any CZ revolvers either.

S&W does fine revolvers and good auto-pistols, but only a very narrow selection of rifles.

Colt used to do revolvers, and fine ones at that. Their pistols are top drawer. Their rifles are good, but like S&W, very limited selection.

Beretta does outstanding shotgun and pistol work, but I'm not sure about rifles, and I don't believe I've seen a revolver under their name.

Marlin makes my favorite rifle, but no pistols. Likewise Savage, who gave up pistols ages ago.

Remington and Winchester . . . no sidearms.

There are any number of one-hit-wonder manufacturers whose products I like but who don't produce the whole spectrum of firearms.

Which brings me to Ruger, perhaps the most broad-spectrum brand we have. They do single action and double action revolvers, and they're solid products. They do a fairly broad range of auto-pistols, including top quality .22 LR autos and pocket pistols. I really, really wish they'd come out with a 1911-style pistol. They make a couple of my favorite rifles. While I can't say that their whole catalog is blue-ribbon, it covers the important bases and offers acceptable quality.

Kind of a surprise, really. I don't think I'd have said Ruger was my favorite brand for anything other than single action revolvers and .22 auto-pistols.

But, if I'm going to be confined to a single manufacturer, Ruger gets the nod.

Handguns? Walther.
Rifles? Ruger.
Old-timers? Colts and Remingtons.
One brand above all else? Walther.

Beretta does outstanding shotgun and pistol work, but I'm not sure about rifles, and I don't believe I've seen a revolver under their name.

Beretta makes several revolvers, including SAA and Schoefield replicas. They also make semiautomatic rifles like the ARX 160, and I think their product line might include a double rifle as well.

Since I couldn't live without a 1911 and M1A - Springfield - so I'd have a Garand too.

I guess this is one of the more thought-provoking questions I've seen lately.

One .22 rifle, one centerfire rifle in .308 or .30.06 and one shotgun are the standard "bare minimum" requirements. For those, I would go with Remington.

However, man does not live by bread alone. :)
I enjoy Ruger MkIIs. I enjoy S&W revolvers. I enjoy 1911s. No single manufacturer (that I can think of) builds pistols in both .22LR and 1911 designs, offers quality revolvers and rifles/shotguns as well.

So I am stuck. And looking forward to further posts, as I may have overlooked something here...maybe Charles Daly or someone else who makes knock-offs of many different designs?

In the mean time, I guess I will just be thankful that we live where we do and have the choices we do...

eek imagine the prices!
It would have to be either Ruger or CZ for me.

Colt made some good old shotguns at the turn of the century. I really like my Colts. Plus they had a deal with Sauer to make sporting rifles in the 70's-80's.

Yeah Colt.

It was probably Ruger, but they don't make a 1911. :( Still probably Ruger, but I didn't really think about CZ until this thread. CZ would be a great choice.

Smith and Wesson for me. Heck I could essentially do it all from the M&P line. M&P pistols, the M&P-15 moe piston driven AR's and that new M&P -22 rimfire AR . The M&P line has some revolvers too. However the shotgun would have to come from the 1000 series.
