If you could only have three guns...

I hate forced choices. Think I'd give hunting/sporting arms the edge over combat stuff, and work toward flexibility.

Handgun: Ruger GP 100 .357mag/.38spl
Shotgun: Mossberg 500 12 gauge (28" vent rib, 24" rifled slug with scope, and 18.5" cylinder barrels)
Rifle: Rem Model Seven in .308

Tried to fit in a .22, but think I'd give the edge to heavier calibers if I can only have three guns. Did think long and hard about replacing the Model Seven with a 10/22, though.

If i had to only pick 3 guns from my collection, I'd probably take the following

my ruger sp101 as a handgun (.38/.357) - rugged, reliable, accurate, compact, and easy to maintain.
Remington 1100 (12 ga) - pretty versatile for clay shooting, home defense, hunting, etc.
Marlin 1897 .22LR lever action (with octagonal barrel) - I really like this gun, it's fun to shoot, accurate, and it's a nice looking gun.

if i could pick only 3, i'd choose the MOST expensive 3 guns (being shotty, rifle and pistol)

why not choose the 3 most expsenive when u can't own any more? :D

Glock 17, works for home defence, carry and competition.

CZ452 22 magnum. Small game hunting, target shooting, plinking. Also stands in for a shotgun in a pinch, you can head shoot birds on the water.

6.5mm grendel AR. For medium to large game, long range target shooting and general my gun is bigger than yours if TEOTWAWKI comes internet discussion.

As I don't have a Grendel and I'm not likely to see one with the current crop of politicians here in Australia, I'd probably go with an Australian International Arms Lee Enfield No 4 copy in 7.62 x 39mm with a carbine length barrel and a decent scope.

My S&W model 66 four inch dosn't get included in any such firearms count as it is an object of religious significance and should be exempt under freedom of religion statutes. :)

4 please

I'm going to add an extra one to cover all four gun types:

1. Rimfire: CZ452 .22LR
2. Shotgun: Remington 870 12 Gauge
3. Centerfire: Remington 700 .308
4. Pistol: Colt 1911 .45 ACP

three guns

- Ruger Mark II (six inch barrel)
- Taurus Pump .22 Mag (16 inch barrel)
- Savage Model 24 .30-30 over 12 gauge

Might substitute Marlin 39M Golden Mountie .22lr for Taurus .22 Mag.

1. HK MP5 10mm, supressed. Light, maneuverable in tight places, reasonably quiet, and 10mm is no freaking joke.

2. Mossberg 835 3.5" mag 12ga. Swiss Army gun with a bigger chamber, giving it quasi 10ga abilities.

3. S&W 327 5" .357 mag. Revolver reliability with semi-auto capacity.

ONLY THREE..THAT'S TOUGH

DPMS LR308...
PARA .45 (4.2" BARREL)
COLT .357 MAG. (4" BARREL)

2) Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 ga. 18.5" w. 2 shot factory extension. 28" barrel for clay games

3) AR-15 of some sort. 20" barrel. ( I crave things I cant get)"

With what's going on in CA right now, how's your AR-15 coming along?

Remington 870, NFA 14"barrel for HD, and a full length barrel for hunting and target shooting. 12 bore.

M1911 or M1911A1 in .45 ACP, and a .22LR conversion kit.

Springfield M-1A

The first two are easy!

First, my .22LR pump action rifle that's been in my family for 3 generations.

Second, a S&W 1911...ideally a Scandium frame (right now I have a normal frame which I'll be upgrading eventually).

Third...don't know. It would be a long gun...either a shotgun or a AR15.

#1 - Any type of match grade 22lr autoloading handgun which accepts detachable magazines.
#2 - Any M4 Carbine in .223
#3 - Springfield Armory SOCOM 16.

These would be my choices in a senerio where I have to live in the woods and hunt for my food. Not really with any defensive purposes in mind. (Although I'd like to see a bear or big cat survive 30 rnds of .223 or 20 rounds of .308  )

#1 - 1911 in 45ACP
#2 - Again, M4 Carbine
#3 - Mossberg 590 (the Remington 870 is a fine choice aswell, but for me, working the action on a mossy is much easier. Plus I already have one. :))

These would be my choices in an urban SHTF type senerio with defensive purposes in mind.

I don't own three guns yet =(.

So I guess that means Chinese SKS and Ruger 22/45.

If I had a choice...

AR-15 in .223, flat top upper, 16" barrel. Easy to find parts and ammo for.
Full-size 1911 (again, eady to find parts and ammo for)
Shotgun of some sort (Not a shotgun guy yet =O)

Just to let u know, That configuration is generally referred to as an M4 Carbine. Granted, the true M4's have full auto capabilities and few other differences.

SOCOM 16 SOPMOD with all the tacticool accessories.

HK USP SOCOM with suppressor and laser

HK FAbarm entry shotgun with 14" barrel

#1 An H&K 91/G3/CETME style .308 rifle w/ a cheapie 3-9x Bushnell

#2 A Glock19 9mm w/ rail for light and tritium night sights

#3 A 7mm Remington Magnum Remington 700 w/ a HB and 20x Trijicon scope w/ mildots and a Harris bipod.

I live in the midwest, and as anyone living in a veldt should know, long range beats out any other consideration.

(No I don't own everything on that list (yet)

Anyone who says why no shottie, I would say shotguns aren't a neessity unless you live in a short range enviroment (jungle, swampland, urban, etc.)

Although I livein an urban area, I'm a really good pistol shot. But an even better rifle shot. (My girlffriend would giveme the ;) for that rifle part)

First choice would have to be a high-capacity semi-auto rifle in .223 or .308. I don't know what make I would choose for either because I have no experience with any such firearms, which is a situation I need to rectify. I'm thinking if the SHTF, I'd want a .308 if I could stay where I'm at. If I have to bug out, .223 ammunition is lighter. This assumes, of course, that I have no strong preference for shooting either cartridge.

Second and third choices for bugout scenario: a .22lr handgun (perhaps one of those Taurus 9-shot revolvers), and a .357 revolver with a 4" barrel/"wondernine"/.45ACP semiauto or revolver. A few years back I saw a revolver briefly described in a couple of gun magazines. It was called the Colt Survivor, IIRC, and it would chamber .357, .38, 9mm, and .380, among others. If it was actually produced and actually worked well for me, that would be my choice.

2nd and 3rd choices for stay-at-home scenario: a Ruger 10/22, and a 12ga. other than a Mossberg 500. Probably a Remington 870 - seems everyone on here thinks they're the bee's knees - or maybe an Ithaca. I like the idea of bottom ejection.
