I did a search for this topic with no luck, so forgive me if it has been discussed before. I find it hard to believe the subject hasn't been touched on at least a few times.
I know it's hard for gun collectors and enthusiasts to imagine opening up their safe and only seeing 1 single firearm, but if that was the case, what would yours be?
If I could only own 1 gun, it better do many things and serve multiple purposes. For this reason, I'd go with my Remington 870 Marine 12-guage pump shotgun. It's nearly perfect for home defense loaded with 6 rounds of 00 buck, it's a rugged utility/survival gun, with the right type of shell/barrel combination it could be a deer hunting tool, a bear defense weapon, and even a bird hunting gun. My 870 Marine is very reliable, and with it's finish, I never have to worry about rust or corrosion. Shotgun ammo is cheap, plentiful, and extremely varied. The only limitations to a shotgun that I can think of are: #1 - Not able to shoot targets accurately at distance and practice marksmanship, and #2 - Not able to be carried concealed when you leave the house.
I'm interested in hearing what others would choose as their 1 and only firearm.
