If you had to choose a rifle and a handgun to go into a battle/armed conflict ?

AK-47 in 7.62x39 or greater (or any rifle that will consistently rip through a standard vest)

pistol would be either an M9 Beretta or Springfield XD in 9mm

shotgun would be my SP Mossberg 500, but I may opt out for something a little more modern, such as a 590.

Side arm S&W 915 9mm. 15 rounds, accurate, reliable, no BS pistol.

Long arm my Saiga S12 12 gauge shotgun with folding stock and 10 round magazines and a red dot. I would feel comfortable in urban alleys and houses with it. That will do pig.

120mm smooth-bore main gun
.50 M2 back up
Accept no substitute for the undisputed king of the hill. Man portable is easy AK-47s and G19s.

My Glock 17 (9mm is ubiquitous and easy to resupply) and either an AR15 carbine or a AK47 sidefolder (depending on AO and resupply situation).

Consider the environment, ammo avaliability in that part of the world, parts & mag avaliability. I would go with the AK & the M9. Not my first choices for less sandy environments.

DPMS SASS in 308 Winchester with 18" barrel and good red dot/scope combo good out to 600 yards

Glock 19

BTW: the rifle choice is based upon the preferences of USMC sniper/scouts I know.

Alternatively, I would be tempted go with a FAL or even a Garand.

Semi auto rifle chambered in whatever my buddies around me are carrying, mounted with a midrange optic such as an ACOG. 1911 or Glock as a sidearm.

Rifle: Something chambered in 7.62x39 because it is so widely available, and I can carry more of an intermediate cartridge than I can of a larger rifle cartridge. From my current collection, that would mean one of my SKS carbines. Probably the Chinese one, since it's lighter and easier to handle than the Yugoslavian one.

Handgun: A quality 9mm full size pistol, because 9mm ammo is so widely available. A .45ACP would be my second choice, but I don't own any .45ACP pistols yet. Out of my collection, I'd probably choose to take my HS2000 (same gun as Springfield XD9), because it's a full size gun with 16rd magazines. I prefer my Bersa Thunder UC9 for daily carry, but if it's a battle/shtf scenario, I'll give up the extra concealability of the Bersa for the higher capacity and longer barrel of the HS2000/XD9.

Shotgun: I only own an H&R single shot .410, but if I were going to buy a shotgun for combat/shtf, I would go with a reliable pump 12 gauge like the Mossberg 500/590 or a Remington 870.

if money was no object, the new Massada rifle in 6.8mm, carrying the conversion kit for 5.56, and 7.62x39. Taurus OSS in .45

m4 with m203 and an xd40. I also need a few beta mags to keep from having to do all those pesky reloads as i spray and pray from behind a sofa peeing my pants
