The CIA has been militarized before - hence the SR-71/A12. I do have one of the "other" SOCOM pistols, the ASAI One Pro, one of those CZ-based pistols the Swiss like so much.
 
Panetta did not move for nothing and agreement from both sides of the aisle was about unanamous on that move.

I think that when the fiscal smoke clears, everyone will realize that Panetta's past budgetary resume will prove to be the reason for his new position. He's the President's designated hatchet man for cuts.

Politically appointed, non-career Directors of the CIA are CEOs, not operational experts. Panetta was appointed because he understands how to move in a rarefied political atmosphere, can manage a large budget, and has executive experience...not because he was our interim spy master for the New Great Game.

He's there to put DoD on a weight loss program. ;)

Which has little to do with procurement of Berettas, Glocks, etc.

Anyone want to equip our force with Korths? Les Baers?
 
Maybe it had something to do with Mafia influence on the awarding of government contracts.
