I'm rural, 22 miles from the nearest small town, 7500 people, they have a Wal-Mart, Safeway, ect, most of the necessities. I'm 45 miles from the nearest big city, 500,000 people, I hate it when I have to go down there, can't wait to get back home.:D I've got a 10 minute drive to nice little shooting hole on Forest Service land.:D

I'm in the Front Range of Colorado, 45 miles west of Colorado Springs, love it out here!:)

I've never seen a Wal Mart in my entire life...
Thats Awesome

Depends on why. If you live in the middle of nowhere, then yeah that is awesome.

On the other hand, the first time I remember seeing a Walmart was when I was 22. That's what I got for growing up in overpriced, anti-development San Jose.

We live in a retirement community in the "country". All our BG are lightweights so all we need are 22s,
.410s and .380s.

Suburban - South King County. Surrounded by -semi-urban areas. (Of course I grew up in Seattle so I don't really consider areas like Federal Way or Kent as fully "urban".)

Rural, small town. Live on 5 acres in a little valley along a river with scads of wildlife of all kinds. Desert and mountains all around, 200 yards to BLM land for shooting and all sorts of other fun.

Heh, I live in NYC... no Wal Mart here, for better or worse.

In the suburbs of the DFW Metroplex (aka Metromess at times) and want to move back to a town where the main focal point is the Dairy Queen :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

I live in a rural area at the moment...no plans to move...but both Charlotte and the town of Huntersville are closing in on me. Luckily I have a little more than 20acres on one side of the road and about 5 on the house side and are neighbored by high tension power lines on one side (my "shooting range"). :)

On 18 acres of rough wooded land, surrounded mostly by larger landowners. Our gravel drive is a windy/hilly thing almost 1/4 mile long to a rural blacktop. I am 3.5 miles to a small town with no traffic signals (other than a flashing red at what is called the 'four-way'). We are about 30 miles from a town big enough to have a Walmart and an hour away from a major city.

I hunt on my own place and have a range with a shooting bench. I often, though, just shoot into a bullet trap from the patio. We heat with wood. I love quail, deer, and coyote hunting. My buddy and I hunt quail on about 15 farms and deer on a half dozen close farms. Almost everybody wants me to coyote hunt on their farms - no access problems there.

I would rather shop at walmart and shoot in my backyard, and OC or CCW carry then live in a place where you have to register your guns.

But, I love visiting the city.

I live on a suburban street but my backyard faces woods that can never be developed and a horse farm. I'm 2 minutes from shopping centers and strip malls but I have deer, 'possums, coons, skunks, wild turkeys, and coyotes in my yard. Half to one and a half acre yards.

I live in the biggest city in New Mexico and I am not worried about gun registration of course I live in a free state. Here is a blurp from our state constitution:

No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.

Urban.

Of course, there's Urban, and then there's Urban. I call what I live in "Urban Lite", same great taste, fewer people. I got neighbors above, left and right. But there's open ground behind and in front. Even a few trees and some grass. I like that. They cut down the trees at my old place. I didn't like that.

Not much use for a rifle here. Decent ground for a shotgun, though. Enough room that overpenetration isn't a prohibitive concern.

I'm living 2 blocks east of the capitol building in Washington DC.:barf: Been here 4 years now and headed back to New Mexico end of this month. I've lived and worked all over the world and I can tell you this is where they will have to incert the enema tube for the world.

Cheers,

Gungle George

Rural North Florida... Yes it does exsist. Up here we like to call it the "Real Florida".
300 Acres bordered by relatives property, county property, and the Suwannee River. My nearest neighbor is 1 mile away and he is a cousin.
I can drive 10 miles to the county seat but there aint much there. The towns big enough to support a Walmart or Lowes are 20 miles in any direction.
Now if we can keep the folks from moving out of over-crowded South Florida and turning us into over crowded North Florida!:uhoh:

Suburbia.

Grapevine, Texas, which is a small to medium sized town (50K) in northeast Tarrant County, part of the DFW metroplex. We are very blessed by God to be able to live in such a nice neighborhood, and fortunate that crime stats in Grapevine are pretty low.

Our neighborhood being what it is, my home defense options are pretty much limited to pistol and/or shotgun. I do own an AR carbine that is very "handy" and usable for home defense, but I'm concerned about the possibility of over-penetration - particularly if the round exits my house and affects a neighbor. Yeah, I know, I know... ...never point your weapon at anything you're not willing to destroy, and be sure of what is beyond your target... ...I'm just not absolutely certain that, in the heat of combat, I would be 100% certain of what is beyond my target. OTH, I am fairly confident that I can hit my target within my home with my pistol and/or shotgun, and I am far less concerned about over-penetration.

This is my street. My house is to my immediate left, and is not shown in the picture.

I am looking forward to some day being able to afford a larger piece of land in a more rural environment, but that isn't possible just yet.

Rural... 15 minutes from wally world but my 1/4 mile long driveway secludes me from my very few neighbors.

Small southern town, land area 2.5 square miles, 8,800 residents. We have one major problem. The residents of the city that boarders us on the south are responsible for 85% of all the crimes that are committed in my town. Since Florida adopted the Castle Law we have seen a major decrease in crime but the majority is still committed by non residents.

Rural , out in the middle of West Texas. I like it out here, everyone minds their own business.
