In which states can you still buy a firearm from a local private seller

Appreciate the heads up. Which states are you referring to?
Any of them. All that list contains is some abbreviated citations from the state constitutions regarding their ostensible position on the right to keep and bear arms. It doesn't provide any information about what's required for purchase, whether private firearm sales without background checks are permitted, etc.

Unless I'm looking in the wrong place...

Oh good grief
The only states that currently have any type of restriction on private party sales:
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Illinois
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Nebraska
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Vermont
Virginia
Washington

Recently moved from NM, the majority of county sheriffs flat out said they weren't going to enforce the then-new background check for private sales law. I never heard of anyone prosecuted for violating that.

Any New Jersey folks here that can clarify? In the New Jersey section of Dogtown's wiki link, it says

A NICS background check at the point of sale is only required for purchases from dealers.

but futher down it says

Private firearm sales require a background check conducted through a federally licensed gun dealer except for temporary transfers, transfers between law enforcement officers, or transfers between immediate family.

I'm not seeing any restriction for North Carolina... am I missing something?
ETA: this site says a "Pistol Purchase Permit" is required for both private and dealer handgun transfers. but it also says "As of 8/10/04 a new law was enacted, which permits someone with a valid North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit to purchase a pistol without the need to obtain a Pistol Purchase Permit."

I'm confused... any North Carolinians here?

More confusion... state just voted to overturn the pistol permit purchase law, but pistol purchase permits are still required??

In Michigan you can buy person to person without a permit, However the buyer is required to fill out a self printed Pistol Sales Record. One copy goes to the seller, one to the buyer and one to the police. However, if you have an out of state concealed carry permit you don't have to turn in your copy to the police. Nothing is required for long guns.
