my range allows concealed carry as long as we don't handle loaded weapons in the lobby. they have surveillance cameras on the shooting range. so they know that i keep my gun on me all the time.

Maybe he had arranged to meet his internet lover for the first time and they selected the range parking lot on a Sunday thinking no one else would show up with it being closed and all. His smile may just have been thinking that you were even more dashing in person than your pictures had led him to believe.

I always CCW into the range and out of the range. Of course they have their signs posted that you can't have a loaded weapon in the shop but that sign does not take precedent over my state laws.
I know the guys pretty well in the shop and no one has ever said anything to me and it is known I do CCW there. Hell I have taken my 36 out before when asked to show size differences between the 21, 30, 26 and 36.

I just carry a gun that I'm not going to shoot that day. It stays concealed while I'm at the range. No problem.

I'm with the other couple of posters that suggested this guy made the same mistake you did.

He showed up, got out to check the hours like you, and saw you walking away eyeing him.

He felt embarrassed under your close watch, and instead of cracking a verbal joke, tried to play it off with an exaggerated grin.

No harm, no foul.

And, no, it wasn't me.

When I go to the range I don't shoot all of my guns. One is on my person at all times. There have been cases of shooters getting robbed of their guns, among them the robbers of the FBI/Miami shootout infamy.

This falls under the classic- "never shoot till you are dry" rule. I always save one mag to load up when I leave. How foolish would you feel to have just shot 300 rounds into paper targets (until empty) then get mugged in the parking lot by a guy with a knife??
