enforcement loads, the 10 mm used by the FBI, and other hollow points, MagSafe .380 ACP beat 'em all! Fragments to penetrate... so it's safer, without ricochets. Handcrafted to precise specs, making it accurate and reliable.

MagSafe Ammo is faster, recoils less, and stops attackers faster than any other ammunition in the world. Elite forces are outfitted with MagSafe, from Navy SEALS to the Royal Hong Kong Police anti-gang units, from big-city undercover narcs to guards at some of America's meanest prisons. The reason is simple. MagSafe works. You really can turn your .380 into .45 auto.

The bullet gr weight is awfully light.
Suppose maybe that would contribute to the incredible speed?
I'll stick with my 180 gr jhp in .40
smith. However, to each their own.

Soooo, the bigger the bullet the better? JK, not trying to get anything started. I have the powerball (hollow points with epoxy filling to Guard against jamming)rounds for self defence, but I stagger load fmj with them for penetration. .45 cal.

I could be wrong, but I have a hard time imagining any JHP ammo being much of a threat on ricochet. It just seems to me that with the cavity the bullet would deform rather than rebound and even if it did rebound, it would have lost a lot of its momentum and shape.

On the ricochet thing, I went to the shooting range last week and saw one of my own bullets ricochet(not jhp). I bounced back within about 5 feet of me. This was an inside range with steel plating as a backwall with concrete behind that. I don't think it would have done any damage to anything if it would have hit something. But that was a straight back ricochet. A ricochet caused by grazing something and then hitting something else would have a different effect because the bullet would still have some of it's foward momentum. I would think that the forward momentum after grazing something would still be more than the momentum caused by bouncing back off in a straight line, but it would seem logical that even a grazing ricochet would have way less energy after striking the first object. My opinion is that you would have to be pretty close to the ricochet point to have major damage from a ricochet, but I have been wrong before.

The energy numbers aren't anything to write home about.

Take the 357Mag. The hottest they're getting is still under 550ftlbs.

Doubletap or Buffalo Bore 125gr Gold Dots will both pull 1,600fps+ in barrels as short as 4". That's up near 800ft/lbs energy with a proven slug.

We train frequently with junk autos for tactical quals at my PD. We've always got one or two new folks so we'll set up a target on one side of the car and bounce rounds off the hood, roof, and under the car to demonstrate the "bullet magnet" quality of flat surfaces and how to use a vehicle for cover with the least risk. It doesn't matter whether it's Speer Gold Dots, Golden Sabers, Federal Hydra-Shok, Cor-Bon, whatever, everything will ricochet if the angle's right.

There's really not much new under the sun in ammo for now. MagSafe is high priced junk as far as effective terminal performance is concerned.

hmmm... I think I'll stick to my 200gr Speer Gold Dots for now.

Wasn't there claims of some "study" reportedly conducted to support Magsafe's claims a few years ago? (A study which, if memory serves, probably never happened... and has only been documented by people who claim that they've heard it from someone -- In other words, I thought I remembered hearing that nothing ever came of this so-called "study", and that it was probably fictitious).

For the record, I also think that Glasers are overpriced junk. But, that's just me talking.

I say buy real ammo!

nothing interesting in it at all. barely the same load as you would get in a shot shell round for handguns. and i dont see how anyone here would use those for more then close range balloon popping.
When it comes to keeping your bits and pieces intact, get a bullet that will do the job everytime. flyingh ashtry anyone?

The only way i know to turn a .380 into a .45 is to trade it in at the gunstore and pay the difference.

Sorry- don't buy the hype, is the best advice I can offer. BTW, I carry a .380 sometimes, and I carry CorBon DPX in it- FWIW.

Funny, I thought that SEALs used FMJ.
I am not expert on this, but I recall reading on THR that the Geneva Convention forbids hollow point. Therefore all U.S. armed forces carry FMJ in order to comply with the Geneva Convention.
Seals may be unconventional warfare specialists, but they still comply with this particular Convention.

Yeah... Anybody notice that the OP is an ad?

And it's the Hague that forbids hollow points. The Geneva convention is about treatment of personnel.

its not my ad its just copied and pasted from a website. I just thought it was intresting numbers with such low bullet weight I wanted some other opinions

Actually, it was the Hague Convention(s) that bans use of certain types of ammo, chiefly soft point ammunition, AND the USA was never a signatory of the conventions.

US Special Forces use FMJ (except in certain instances) simply because each Operator will shoot several hundred thousand rounds (at least) during his career. Matter of economics, supply logistics and the fact that body armor negates the effectiveness of JHPs & frangible ammuniton.
