I posed this question to Hodgdon, because I am currently happy with Varget, but want to try IMR 8208 based on great reviews, if I find it first.

Hodgdon's response is below:

Hello , Todd. Yes IMR 8208 is just as temp stable as the Hodgdon extreme powders. Imr 8208 is actually made in the exact same place as the Hodgdon extreme powders and uses the same temp stable technology. It is what I personally use for my 223.

I have not used it yet I have a little, Varget is my favorite for 308 223. Started testing SW Precision this year have found it to be vary close to Varget

From my understanding, it's right in line with Varget for temp insensitivity. It has been awesome for me in .223 with 75/77gr bullets, so well that I actually prefer it over TAC. Getting similar fps, better accuracy. Has worked great in 150/155gr .308 for me as well! DEFINITELY worth a try if you can get your hands on some!

The IMR 8208XBR powder is all i use anymore in my 223 & 22-250 rifles. Superb accuracy, clean, and the temps dont ever bother my reloads.
It meters pretty decent for extruded powder thru my drum type redding & hornady powder measures. One of the more consistent extruded powders thru a drum measurer.

A word of caution though, once you try it, you`ll likely want more of it. And if you try it and you decide you dont like it, i`ll gladly take whatever you have left, off your hands.

All three companies had a good power ar comp, varget and 8208. Now their all the same company.
Where is the Varget powder made? I know the IMR 8208XBR is made in Australia, and the Alliant AR-Comp is made in Sweden.
