This much flare is more than sufficient for .431 cal cast bullets but it's about perfect for the flatbase jacketed bullets I usually load. 20190121_220753.jpg
 
You want just enough flare so the fattest bullet seats in the shortest case without shaving. Any more is just strain-hardening your brass.

Yes, way too much.
 
@roval , like said, you only want enough flare to start the bullet and not shave it when seating. Main problem with that much flare is brass life. When you get the new settings please post pictures.
 
I guess it doesn't make much difference as long as you're guiding it up into the Seating die.

Using the Redding copy of the Lyman M-die, the bullet will stay in the case when inverted
