Is There Really Room For so Many 6.5mm's?

When I started looking at shooting between 100 and 1K yards, I started with 243 but soon changed my mind to 6.5x47 Lapua.

There were a couple reasons I went this direction-

I wanted to be able to shoot tiny little groups at ranges under 300 yards yet be able to reach out and touch a steel plate at 1K or beyond.
You can get the brass from Lapua, and just about anything from Lapua is awesome. :D
Long brass life.
Based on what I have read, barrel life should be longer than the 260.
It is inherently a very efficient and accurate cartridge.

The other choices don't seem to be bad but I stuck to the recommendations of my gunsmith and a couple other shooters in the area.

What does "PSI" stand for in this context?
I tried to Google it but had no luck.

well as long as we are showing our 6.5x55,s, here is the most accurte of all my 6.5x55,s. a 1920 CG rebuilt into a CG63 with a semi heavy schultz&larsen denmark barrel. i would like to mount a scope on it to get the most accurcy at long ranges. but i will not ruin a collectable rifle to do it, if the targets are the size for reciever sights i do well with it but if the targets are small i have a problem. eastbank.

I'd like to think there is room for all of the 6.5mm rounds listed; but , doubt it.
Currently at the local range the creedmoore, lapua, and remmy are being compared.
Believe it or not - lot's of guys are building a 6x47 lapua after the first barrel goes south. Those heavy 6mm bullets have a little less recoil.
I prefer the 6.5x55 for deer out to 250yards, but my 20" styer SBS isn't confidence inspiring shooting upright - too light for me.
I do see a 6.5 saum on a model 7 in my future real soon.with a 25-28" barrel.

I shoot a 260 Remington in DPMS LR-260H,and I built a Custom 6.5 Creedmoor off a Trued Savage Varmint Action. I'm also building a 6.5-06,just for the hell of it.

Each caliber/gun has it's own special niche',and each one in the 6.5mm family has fans for one reason or another.
Gun calibers are like automobiles. They make all kinds of make's and model's,and different people have their own like's and dislike's of them.
