Is your mayor on this list?

Ours is on there...........lee laughingstock! Our local paper this morning headlined the move to ban gun shows here. Seems mike martinez would prefer people bought guns at retail shops and not at the show. This used to be Texas but now they are mandating easy bake ovens for boys(in blue) and jeans with the zipper in the back. Time to move.
 
Not only is my mayor on the list (Rockford, IL) but it appears to include most of the mayors in this awful state. Not only is IL significantly anti-2nd Amendment ( primarily Chicago and its suburbs, but it is those areas that control the state government) it is corrupt, insolvent and butt-ugly. How I wish I could get the hell out of here.
 
Did I read that wrong and see that Walmart is their only corporate partner? I know Walmart is big but they may be a crutch that holds the group together. Who knows?
 
My current mayor is not. Interestingly but not suprisingly, a guy I worked for (peripherally) is. A consumant politician as I remember him and one of the reasons I gave up that job and don't feel the need to do much business in that town.

BTW, I wonder if he has any idea how many CCW permits his Libertarian sheriff issued?

Wriggly, of course we are against illegal guns. Unless you are a criminal you are against illegal guns. It should be common sense. Do we really need an organization to tell us that our mayors are against illegal guns? I mean they wouldn't be very good at their job if they were for illegal guns, would they? I can guarantee you though, that with someone like Mayor Bloomberg behind this, it isn't really about illegal guns. It is simply Mayors Against Guns!

Oh by the way, my mayor is not on the list.

The whole premise of an organization that proclaims to be against something that's illegal is profusely inane.

My point was that the title they've chosen for an anti-gun group is utterly silly.
 
Unfortunately, yes. Our mayor doesn't hide his agenda.

I was a bit surprised to find my mayor on the list. I USED to support the guy!:fire:

It's a bit funny because I've never actually seen or heard of any "military-style weapons" on the "streets". Good to know fudd guns aren't lethal though.

I stand corrected. I guess next time I will excercise more due dilligence before commenting. I should have been able to ascertain that something was not kosher just from the faces pictured on the website.

But, my mayor is not on the list, and he is quite pro gun.
 
Remind the ones on the list of all the surrounding towns that aren't listed.

Here is what I wrote:
I just found out you are a member of "Mayors Against Illegal Guns". I am very disappointed you have our town listed as a full member of a Bloomberg founded anti 2nd Amendment group. Why would you join such a group? It has nothing to do with running our city and you are using our tax dollars to join! (I thought money is tight.)

First of all what is a "military-style weapon" and why would such a concocted name for a gun be any less lethal that a revolver? Makes no sense, it's just more Bloomberg anti-gun rhetoric. The entire high capacity argument is just more TV news junk. Come on Will, you are smarter than that - just how much crime is committed in XXXXXX with 30 round magazines - really how much crime is committed by law abiding gun owners in XXXXXX? A killer will use a bunch of 10 or even 5 round magazines . Law abiding XXXXXX citizens should never be penalized for the maniacal actions of an insane person. It's preposterous.

I take this as seriously as if you were telling us what church to attend or what we can say or write. You do know the 2nd Amendment is the only place in the Constitution or Bill of Rights that says "Shall not be infringed". Seems our forefathers took it pretty seriously. Well, unless you quit and have XXXXXX taken off their list, rather than voting for you and telling friends and neighbors you are a good conservative guy, I will begin a concerted effort to do quite the opposite.
