What does your WIFE carry?

For everyday carry she uses a lws32 because she dresses like a woman, not a business woman. Ive asked her to carry a .38 or 9mm but the carry method limits her waredrobe considerably during the late spring, summer, and early fall when its hot and humid as hell.

At least when shes carrying you really can not tell she is with such a small gun.

My wife naturally points CZs so she carries a CZ Rami.

A female friend of ours carries 1911s because they point naturally for her.

Another carries a Glock because that points naturally for her.

Yet another carries a CZ. It points naturally for her.

Notice a trend?

Your wife needs to go where she can handle, and preferably shoot, a wide range of handguns to find out which one fits her the best instead of what fits you or me or some other guy's wife.

If she points a 1911 it will be quicker on target and more accurate for her and more comfortable to shoot than a Glock. If she points the Glock she'll be quicker on target and more accurate and more comfortable than a Sig/1911/CZ/etc. She'll handle recoil better with a gun that fits her as well so she'll be able to shoot more powerful defensive ammunition.

Show your wife CorneredCat.com and let her read through the advice on selecting and fitting and carrying a handgun from a talented and experienced woman that knows more about carrying and using a gun than 90% of the guys posting here.

After years of refusing to carry my wife decided a few months ago to get her CHP. She went to class Wed of last week and fell in love with the gold standard j frame. She come home and informed me on what she wanted and we went out and bought it this past weekend. 642 with CT grip....yeah had to have the laser you know.
We went out and she run 55 rounds thru it that same day, she'd never shot a small revolver and only shot a 44mag once in her life. I don't own any revolvers...

She come home and mentioned she needed practice pulling the trigger smoother. I informed her of snap caps and she ordered them right then and there. We just got them in this evening. Both of us have smoothed out our trigger pull a bunch with these and the laser. She can't wait to head out this weekend to see if there's any improvement.

She also carries a kimber pepper blaster. The whole reason she changed her mind about carrying was because her job now takes her out of town 10 or so times a year.

My wife doesn't normally carry. Pretty much the only time she does is when we go hiking and/or camping.

When she does carry, it's either a .38 Tarus Model 85, or a .25ACP Beretta 950

We actually have 2 Beretta 950s, a "his and hers" set. Mine is blue, hers is stainless. Great little pistols, wish they hadn't been discontiuned.

My wife doesn't carry yet, but she is working towards that goal, something she hopes to achieve this fall. Many of you may recall my wife's stance on guns from a thread I posted almost a year ago. She was virulently anti gun at the time. Well, with all the madness and uncertainty going on in the world (armed robberies as an example) and the shooting in CO in particular, she has made a complete 180. This change of position was all her, I really didn't influence her in any manner.

She recently acquired a pair of Colts, pictured below. Both are absolutely perfect for her tiny, child-like hands and relatively significant recoil sensitivity (both have mild recoil). The larger 1903 Colt will be for belt carry (she prefers open carrying it, but will get her carry permit so she has that option) and the smaller 1908 may get used with an ankle holster, belly band, or smart carry. For now, I'm letting her research her options, providing guidance on options, mechanical operation of the guns, shooting lessons, tactics and laws.

Also, still need to put a few hundred more rounds through these before we call them trustworthy.

Check out a Sig P238. The recoil on it is almost non-existant. My petite daughter with little elfin hands thought the recoil almost felt like a reverse recoil. The way she put it was as if the gun was trying to pull itself back on target. This is a gun your wife will not dread practicing with. I know a .380 isn't a great defense caliber, but it beats a sharp stick.

What does your WIFE carry?

A pepper spray (Kimber), a Benchmade Griptillian, and a temper that would frighten a Cape Buffalo.:what::what::what:

She's taking her CCW course in the next month or so, and then she wants to start looking into what she'd like to carry. I'm happy to assist as much as she wants, but this is her choice, and her project.

S&W Break Top in .32S&W. Better than a sharp stick & small enough she's willing to carry it. Biggest problem we have is dogs or coyotes and the .32 is enough for that. She wants to get a 1911 as a range toy but we both know she'd never actually carry it.

My wife carries a cell phone so she can call the police. Says she would not be able to shoot a perp NO MATTER what they were doing or about to do.

Nothing I can do but pray for her.

bro, thats all any of us can do. my wife doesnt carry all the time, just when she thinks about it.....like some cops i know whom do not carry off duty.....

My wife and I took the Oregon CHL course together, although she hasn't made the appointment and gotten the license yet. Of any of the guns we own I think she likes the Sig SP2022 .40 S&W the best. It fits in her hand better than any of my full size pistols, and she finds the recoil very manageable. At this point that's what I carry, but when she gets her license I'll probably either buy another (they're quite nice, and a good price compared to other Sigs) or carry something else myself. It would fit in a purse just fine, but I think women have a harder time concealing the gun on their person (except in the winter) because they don't usually wear a lot of baggy clothes.

Mine was kind of like that and reluctant to carry (came from a small Southern town where local cops could hassle you for carrying pre-license days).

Then a 20 year old friend of our daughter's was executed in a convenience store robbery.

Within two weeks she'd taken the class for her CHL and carries now.

Remain hopeful. She just might change her mind.

The 2 most common themes running through this thread seem to be either: a) my wife carries what/ when/ how/ if SHE wants to carry or b) my wife WON'T carry what/ when/ how/ *I* want her to carry.
I married a German/ Irish redhead, and learned a long time ago that she's a real person with ideas and preferences of her own (to put it mildly) and she WILL NOT be controlled or condescended to. Kind of puts me in the a) catagory. (i kinda think that sooner or later, most husbands realize they have ALWAYS been in the a) catagory, whether they knew it or not.)

^Winner of the day! (That's packin' iron, right there!)

I love it when family members tell stories... when my mother was a young lady, she carried a good leather clutch purse just large enough for an ID, a bit of cash, and a horshoe magnet the size and weight of a real horseshoe. Apparently, she once knocked a man cold with it on UNT campus.

you said it

Agreed, my wife is half American and half Japanese and she's a very independent, can-do, tough woman. Certainly not meek, or lacking in backbone. I'm sure at some point she'll decide to but I'm under no illusion that I could affect that choice even if I wanted to. Although I'm pretty sure anyone accosting her is going to get more than they bargained for whether she's packing or not. She's tough, and I love her for it.
