Just when I thought a Glock couldn't get any uglier.........but summin is better than nothin!

Great responses, thanks. The sig p238 I hope will fit her hands good, but NO ONE has a p238 to rent, I would really like for her to shoot before buying. I would love to get a matching p938 to carry. Plus sig is in Exeter NH, so any problems with a pistol, and I could drive out there and have it fixed right away. Has everyone been happy with there sig p238?
would it be worth taking the dive and buying before shooting?

Either a .38 LCR loaded with Federal Nylocks, or a 3" J frame (.327) loaded with H&R mag HP's. Both good choices for an cranky arthritic old lady with a bad attitude, and much more likely to shoot than I am. I asked her once where she would she would shoot someone. Never ask a nurse that, she gave me detailed answers with an estimate of life expectancy/probability of living. I'm pretty sure I never want her shooting at me.

I had a chance to buy a used sigma for $175, but the range master steared me away from it. He said there are more in for repairs than on the range. Whats your experience with it?

Yes. The P238 has been shaken out and is good-to-go, IMHO. Great 380, especially if you're a fan of the 1911 platform.

I think you can buy with confidence.

My wife carries a Colt Officer's Model (.45 ACP)

She does purse carry or a fanny pack. If we're out in the field, she usually uses an El Paso Saddlery "Tanker" shoulder holster. She has tried several hip carry holsters and doesn't like the way they make the pistol dig into her ribs.

Her answer to slow presentation speed with purse/fanny pack carry is to have her hand on the pistol when she's in questionable locations, walking back to the car. We both know this isn't ideal, but it is better than not carrying at all...

The only problem she had with the Officer's Model was the difficulty in racking the slide. (The springs are quite a bit stiffer than the standard 5" Government model.) After quite a bit of practice, she can now do that easily enough, as well as IDPA-style magazine changes and an "unload and show clear" drill.

While I praise her constantly, the "big deal" was when someone else at the range complimented her on her pistol handling. Big grin for that.

The only thing she doesn't do is clean the thing after practice... :)

At the moment, nothing, though she has been speaking more often of getting her CHL. If and when, it will prolly be a .38 revolver, as that is what she likes to shoot. Maybe my (or our, if you prefer) 637 or 642, though she has really taken a shine to my/our early 20's (I believe) S&W M&P .38 hand ejector. Most of her purses are kinda small for that, though. On a side note something she usually does have is a .50 BMG from the first time she shot a friend of our's AR50. She hadda fun conversation with the TSA about that. She explained that it was an empty casing with a spent primer, and therefore harmless. I can't believe they let her on the plane with it.

For the last 12 years every day, An old 38 charter Arms that was her dads, I had a smith do trigger job, and oncc in a while my SP101

U guys must have strong wives...

Mine couldn't rack my Kahr, heck I struggle with my CM9!

We rented a bunch at the range, came home with a P238 Sport. She like it muchly.

Mrs Striker's always gun is a J frame airweight (currently a mid 70's dehoned nickel Mdl 37).

In addition, her out and about gun is a Glock 23, (fanny packed in shorts and OWB'd in jeans).

My wife's first choice was the Sig 238, but essentially said she wouldn't carry it everywhere because of its size. The Kahr is considerably thinner and smoother and conceals a lot better. The Sig is fantastic! We rented one and it was nothing short of a great experience. I'm thinking of getting her a 938 sometime down the line.

The slide on the Kahrs gets easier with time. I also think that after some practice it gets easier to rack.

My ladies prefered carry is her M&P 45.
Dress up involves swiping my BHP.
EDC right now is an LC9 because the M&P is too hard to hide.
Minimmum carry is LCP.

5'4" 103 lbs makes some guns hard to conceal during an Iowa summer.

She usually makes me go with her.... I usually have a Keltec P11 or .45 Witness on me

She does have a ccw and a S&W BG.380 that she likes and shoots very well, but she just won't carry all the time.
