So I have an sp-10 that I'm having a few issues with.. About every 6-10 shots the gun will hiccup, it will fire, feed next round but fail to fire on the next end on occasion.. I believe it's not recocking the hammer.. Any ideas.. I'm not 100% but I'm thinking a problem in the trigger group?

Are you allowing the trigger to reset after each shot? When I taught armed security officers you would be surprised at how many were short stroking the trigger (not allowing the trigger to come all the way forward so it would reset for the next shot). This situation usually happens during rapid fire training. If this is not the case if it were a S&W I would say the trigger rebound spring sounds like it is weak and needs to be replaced. I am not familiar with the Ruger trigger mechanism but it should have a spring similar to the S&W trigger rebound spring and it may need replacing.

Just saw this was a shotgun not a revolver. My bad. I mistook the SP-10 for the Ruger SP-101.

Yes . I should have clarified that . As it's in a shotgun forum.. An sp10 is a 10g auto loader shotgun.. Yes it's been slow fire when this occurred

Why do you "suspect" it's not recocking the hammer? When it does it all you have to do is look and see if the hammer is cocked or not. Why do you suspect the trigger group? Have you thoroughly cleaned and inspected everything from the gas ports to the action spring and tube?

The gun has been cleaned inside and out.. I suspect the trigger group because the hammer failed to recock on the cycle. I've had the whole gun torn down before to detail clean and replace a small part. Like I said mostly it runs fine , just like my 1187. But on occasion it will do this.. It's a little nerv wracking. I can't that it to go hunting with till I fix the problem. My next move is to find a good gunsmith to look at it but because the gun isn't made anymore I'm worried about getting parts for it if that's the problem

What loads are you using? Is it coming back far enough to cock, but not cocking? Forgive me, but thoroughly cleaned means different things to different people. Have you cleaned out the gas ports with a drill bit turned by hand?

Yes , I have detail stripped the gun including having bolt assy stripped and cleaned.. Gun cycles and functions fine. Just every so often it will not fire.ill either get a click or nothing. Then I re rack the gun and bang, it's fine

I know it's kinda educated guess but the gun itself and gas system seem to function fine,it ejects great and feeds round all fine . I haven't called remington cause they can't tell me anything I don't know already.. My only question would be are the trigger groups the same between remington shotguns.. I could swap groups out of one of my other 1100's or 1187 just to troubleshoot
