At this time last year, I had a Phoenix .25 caliber that was given to me by my father in law. Since then, I have acquired:

12ga Winchester 1300
410/.22LR Rossi combination
.22 Walther P22
9mm Walther P99
.22LR Browning BL22
Concealed Handgun License

I want to buy a Springfiled Ultra Compact 1911 for carry, a 20 gauge for my wife to shoot, and a Browning lever action rifle in 308. I think I created a monster in myself, but I like it!

just remember when buying guns,,,"quality is better than quantity" i love guns too. i have about $20000 worth on my wish list, but i wont sacrifice quality to get the calibers and models that i want. take it at your own pace and end up with a gorgeous collection you can be proud of. looks like your doing pretty good with quality so far. a walther ppk is on my wish list $500, $1000.00 for a winchester m70 supergrade in 30-06, $1000.00 for a pristine winchester 1917 enfield, $1000 for an m1 garand, $1500 for a pre ban colt ar-15. $2000.00 for a springfield armory m1a1 national match, the list goes on and on. $7000 just off the top of my head.
have fun!!!!!:)

It is the only hobby I know of that preserves life, liberty, and can put food on the table if needed. If there's another hobby like this or one that does more than gun collecting, please tell us. And palerider1's right about quality. You certainly don't want a lot of junk in your collection.

I'm all about quality. The way I look at it, a few months after a purchase, the extra couple hundred dollars saved won't be missed, but you'll always have the gun. Thanks for the info guys. This website has helped me tremendously.

your situation could be a hell of a lot worse.....if that was the worst problem I had, I'd be in excellent shape....:D

I believe it was 2002 when I got my first gun, it was a Marlin 22lr. Since then, like you, I've aquired quite a few guns. At first I was going for quantity, not quality. After some trading/selling/buying I've narrowed my collection to the basics. I could still do a little better on quality but they pretty much suit my needs for the time being. The only thing I lack is a solid bolt action like a Rem 700 etc., but that will come.

Ruger P95
Walther P22

Mossberg 590
SKS, Romania
Winchester 94
M1 Carbine

And of course...

Glenfield (Marlin) Mod 60

Keep that Phoenix .25 if you can...

good for you dammit. it's a good life.

The list will only grow my friend. Pretty soon you will need a safe, and a
new room added on to your house
This is too true.
5 or 6 years ago I had 3 guns now the safe and gun cabinet are spilling over and I am trying to get refinanced to build a safe room where the carport is

Congratulations! I started my collection when I was 15 and I'm not about to stop. I'm 57 now, and still collecting. My latest is a S&W 625JM, number 57.

welcome
now it only takes $$$$ and time to bring that collection along mostly $$$$$

you're off to a great start. i'd say you need a good revolver, but that's just me.

and the rifle/shotgun combos are a blast. my dad had a savage in 20ga/.22lr when i was growing up. so much fun.

I totaly disagree with you.
I think you are just the typical gun buyer or aquirerer.:scrutiny:

If your going to be a gun nut you have to have reloading equipment for all you guns, and you have to buy components in bulk.

Other things that get you into the G_nut catigory is you find and buy a set of reloading dies on sale, then go about finding a gun and brass that you can buy that the dies will reload for.

Or when the FBI/DEA/BATF/State/County/City Police come across a gun they are not familiar with they have you on speed dial.

These are just a few examples of the 5000 things that get you into the G_nut catigory:neener:

But it's a good start:D

I hope you meant that in a good way.

If I can find it on the web.

Yup I found it.
You might be a gun nut if............................
...you see TV footage of the war in Bosnia and wish you were there to pick up the brass.
...you drive 300 miles just to ogle (and fire) HK-MP5s (and Stens, Uzis, BMGs and whatever else shows up at Knob Creek).
...you keep a loaded gun hidden in every room in the house, including the bathroom and kitchen, "just in case," and then keep one on you at all times just in case someone breaks in while you're in the hallway.
...you consider it unpatriotic not to own at least one .45 and one .22.
...you named your pocket pistol "Little Guy" and your 12 gauge "Big Jake."
...you own reloading dies for calibers that you do not shoot.
...you tape American Shooter so you can pause, reverse and fast forward to do a complete analysis of the show.
...you understand Smith & Wesson's model numbers.
...you ever bought two brands of the same weight and type of bullet, just to see if one "shot better."
...you keep a collection of different cartridges at your place of work as a "conversation piece."
...you take your wife on vacation to a gun show for your 10th Anniversary and she is as excited to go as you are.
...you ever had to explain, "It's NOT the same gun, it's a variation!"

These are just a few of the many many:neener:
And I even contributed about eight of them:what: :neener:

you are not a gun nut. you are just buying a few items that you like.

you will become a gun nut when:
- you buy a new gun, bring it home, clean it up, and when you go to put it in the safe you will find you already have that same exact gun, in the same exact chambering already there.
- when you clean out your safe periodically, you find guns you honestly had no idea you had.
- when you go to the gunshop, the owner has a couple guns he's never put on the rack until you get a crack at them.
- when you scoff at the idea of ever putting any of that factory-load garbage thru one of your guns.
- when your minimum reloading component bill is $175.
- when you buy a gun in a duplicate chambering on purpose because the platform is slightly different, even though barrel lengths and weights are similiair.
- when you have all of your guns in an excel spreadsheet, but you refuse to look at the row numbers because you are honestly afraid of the number.
- - to further aid in your ignorance of the number, you have new pages for each type of gun, to make it impossible to accidentally discover what the number is.

however... you have a good start. i hope your accumulation grows and brings you much joy in the process.
