Obviously, everthing related to our great hobby (guns, ammo, powder, primers, bullets, etc.) has either 1. increased in price 2. gone out of stock or 3. increased in price and gone out of stock. I don't think anyone will dispute this.

With that being said, I don't like the fact that an anti-gun/anti-cool president was elected. However, I think that we might be to blame for the price increases and supply problem more than the president. Here is my reasoning: We panicked. When it got closer to election time, we started buying up everything, especially assault rifles, ammunition, and reloading supplies. The assault rifle issue might have merit since Obama is against assault rifles in the hands of the civilian population, although I believe that the gun laws are more of a state issue and there are more pressing matters at hand than banning guns such as the economy and Iraq.

As far as ammo and reloading supplies, I think it would be in our best interests to calm down. We are being gouged for prices because there are silly rumors going on that they won't sell powder anymore or what not. However, when we buy all the supply, why wouldn't a company price gouge? They are still going to sell it all anyways since we think it won't be available any longer.

This is what I am suggesting. The president isn't gun friendly. However, we don't need to make matters worse by panicking and buying everything based on some misinformed rumors that aspects of our hobby will be banned. Write to your state representatives, state senators, congressmen, senators, and other elected officials voicing your concerns about possible legislation that will jeopardize the 2nd Amendment. In the meantime, we need to be stoic and only focus on controlling our own actions. After all, we have demonstrated that when supplies are low and demand is high, like it is now, then our hobby becomes much less affordable and in turn, much less fun. Let's turn it around.

Some of us went on a shopping spree to stock up (I won't call it panic), but you also need to consider that a bunch of folk who didn't previously have guns went out and bought whatever they thought might be banned.

The net result is the current run. It started with black rifles and hi-caps, and now it's settled down on those a bit and the bubble has hit the ammo side of things.

It'll all shake out in the wash.

We made the decision after October last year when one of our local Anchors was killed for Channel 7 In Little Rock after a brutal home invasion. It would take her a week or so before they let her go off life support. That was the trigger for my household to consider guns.

Then we went over what kind of guns. Spouse was a Marine and I had a tiny bit of shotgun experience so we both bought a shotgun after the election was finished.

The one sentence we heard that pushed over the tipping point was very simple. Obama as Candidate thought that we as Bible thumpers too bitter to hold onto anything but God and Guns. or something to that effect.

We broke out our savings and made it happen cold hard cash. Two shotguns, ammunition, taser and handgun later we were finished with it all by mid march.

Just in time because right about the middle of march things really dried up on the internet with supply of ammunition in particular and concealed carrys in general with all the local classes filling up with very serious students from most walks of life intent on legally protecting themselves and thier homes against invasions and crime.

We understood that there is a shortage and dealt with it as best as we are able. As far as I can see, everything weapons related need or want has been totally met by this time I post here. We are simply adding on with additional purchasing ahead regardless of pricing. Just like 4.50 gas. We dont stop driving. It will take us about... 24 dollar gallon gas to stop our vehicles from going anywhere.

Things will settle down. The United States of America is a great nation that is awakening (Finally....) The Remington Arms factory down the ways over the hills and farms are running totally 24/7 as the birds fly. We have other arms for the Military being made such as the Thaads System in Camden and various other Defense related work all running 24/7 in this state.

Obama can have the white house. But we have our own little cottage with the Bible and the Guns on our tiny bit of land. All free and clear.

All things shall pass. Even ammuntion shortages, panicking etc.

My thought is a big thought and I am sorry for a long post.

We enjoy the shoots at the range and enjoy the idea of doing what we need to do be in order to be free. No one will ever take that away from us. Yes they may hurt us, kill us or hurt our friends and family etc and so on. But when you accept that you must wake up and do things, go do it 120% without regret, second thoughts or wishywashing.

As we say here in the South, Getrdone.

Haven't bought ammo for some time and don't plan to while the prices suck. When I do it will be from the merchants who didn't screw the public.

Now, people buying more guns and ammo is a bad thing.

No joke I have been shooting all my life and I have been buying guns and ammo on my own as soon as I was old enough to. Now I cant buy ammo or get a half way decent deal on a gun because people are running out and buying everything they see.

I am all for more people getting pro-active about the 2A, but when there is a 40 something guy at a pawn shop buying 4 AK's on his credit card, and half way through filling out his NCIC he stops and ask the sales man if he can see one, he has never seen one in person. That makes me mad, then he wants to know about a few cases of ammo.

But I am the bad guy because that makes me mad. He is not buying 4 AK's to take out and shoot, he’s buying them in hopes that there will be another AWB and he can turn around and double or triple his money, even though the pawn shop doubled their money on him!

Part of the problem, at least where I am this week, is that the gun shops are keeping things stirred up. Yesterday I visited 2 shops I've never been to before. In one, the guy behind the counter was justifying the high prices of what little ammo he had by telling the green beans (new gun owners, or soon to be gun owners) all about how they are gonna serialize ammo and you'll have to sign for it, and how the manufacturers have cut beck production at the request of the administration, etc.

Posted around the walls in the other shop were photocopies of a pre-election newspaper article about how if Obama wins, he is gonna reinstate the AWB, and all the rest of the anti-gun agenda from 6 months ago. They appeared to be referring people to the article regularly.

In those 2 shops, they're trying their best to keep the panic buying going.

Oh yeah... BIG color poster in the front window of one of the shops: "SPECIAL ON 9MM AMMO". What were they selling? Blazer 9mm for 39.99/ box of 50. No foolin'.
