Anyone else have one of these? I just bought my first shotgun a couple of weeks ago (NEF pardner pump). But couldn't pass up the 1300 at walmart for 243. Have run about 1000 rounds through the pardner, but heard the 1300 was faster.

I haven't shot any with it yet, but it feels better balanced(swings a little lighter), don't know much about how to fit the stock, will do a search when I get time.

BTW does this mean I'm addicted by buying two new weapons in a month? LOL

I didn't get in too much trouble for this one, but any more and I will. Besides the Benelli at Dicks was SWEET, but wife has threated to start selling my cars if I buy any more weapons..

Thanks for all the advise and help from you all, 1000 rounds and alot of reading here, and I'm hitting almost double what I was a month ago.

I bought one of those for my son (though he's never used it) a few months ago. I like it! I replaced the rock hard recoil pad with a limbsaver slip on, added a Hi-Viz spark bead from Walmart, and installed one of these:

I've shot lots of trap and skeet with it up until very recently...my wife surprised me with an O/U sporting for Christmas.

Mine was slathered in factory grease - make sure you clean it up before you shoot it!

Regards,
Ed

The 1300 is a fine shotgun, though not my personal pick. As stated, scrape some of that preservative off before firing.

1K rounds already? Good start on BA/UU/R....

I just took the barrel off, didn't take the bolt out. Should I remove that also & clean and re-lube it?

Yes. Excess lube plus firing residue becomes grunge in short order. Grunge is abrasive and sticky, wearing your gun inordinately and courting glitches.

Just took it completely down, it was covered with this brown sticky stuff. A little brake cleaner and a good spray with the compressor and everything looks good. Now if I can convince my boss to go to the skeet range this week I can get some rounds through it.

Dave, I see you're in MD. Where at, I have alot of clients in the DC area, and one employee that lives in College park. Might have to come up that way one weekend and see how the pros do it. The range I go to here is just a bring your own thrower and clays, and fire away. No real expertise there to show me how it is supposed to be done.

Thanks,
Jim

Just picked up a 1300 defender yesterday day lot different feel to it than my 870 .. If remingtons service would have been better i might have bought another but thats a rant for another day ... Action feels pretty good and 284 out the door i couldnt pass it up

Jim, I live in Columbia, and oft am found at Prince George's Trap and Skeet Center on Good Luck road not far off the DC Beltway. I shoot mostly on weekends these days.

I'm no pro, just an advanced journeyman willing to pass along what little I know....

Dave,
Heading up to DC tonight for phone system install tomorrow, will look for the place when I get up there and see about comming up one weekend.

Thanks,
Jim

Got a chance to go to the range this past weekend, got about 200 rounds through it.

At first was using the IC choke, couldn't hit a thing. Appeared that I was shooting out of range for that choke, changed to mod. seemed to hit MUCH better. When patterning, was about right on for POA and POI. Just at about 25 yds, the pattern was bigger than the paper I was using, but still seemed to be centered correctly for me.

We were using some cheap ammo from dicks and with three of us bought 21 boxes for Sat. Only thing, the weapon un-nerved one buddy if I didn't chamber another round, would blow the bolt about half open. But it was much faster on doubles than my other pump.

Winchester makes much of that rotary bolt being fast. However, someone proficient with a pump is about at fast with one as any other.

Glad you like your 1300. Now BA/UU/R....

if I didn't chamber another round, would blow the bolt about half open

The 1300 action will open if you maintain back pressure ie. pull the forend towards your body, when pulling the trigger. The 870 won't (at least the one's I've tried) - you need to release back pressure slightly (recoil usually does just that). If your friend is used to pulling the gun firmly into his shoulder that should explain it.
