I finally got my Grail Gun tonight. Was on
Guns America and found a mint like new original Ruger Redhawk in 357 magnum with a
5.5 bbl. Serial # dates it as made in 84.
Barely gave over $1000 for it. I've only seen one in person 10 yrs ago. Been wanting the original for 25 yrs with the 5.5 bbl
When I get it, will post pics.

Yeah, my 629 Hunter, lugged barrel and fluteless cylinder, wants a shoulder rig. I'm sure this puppy is even heavier.

Nice! I like the 5.5 inch barrel. Not too long, not too short.

25 ish years ago, I put a Redhawk 45 colt with a 5.5 inch barrel on layaway for all of a day. Then changed my mind and bought something else. I haven't seen one for sale since.

I do own a Ruger Redhawk 45 Colt / 45 ACP. However, I wish it had a 5.5 inch barrel on it and standard RH grip.

Nice pickup, that is a difficult to find gun. A few years ago that was my "grail gun" too. I found one on GB and paid $600.00 (high for those days) Two weeks later I'm at a gun show and a dealer had one for $550, within a few days I owned a pair, go figure.

Congratulations. I'm pretty close to having my grail gun with a Winchester 92 Deluxe in 44 Magnum. I didn't know it was my grail until I owned one, and now, others just seem bland. My grail used to be a Winchester 71, which is still on the radar, but I think I like smaller cartridges.

I shoot a lot of the Ranch Dog 432-265-RF bullets through it. I size them and apply gas checks with a push through sizer then run them through my lubesizer for lube. I had been just running them into the Lubesizer but I noticed I was getting slight off center sizing on the nose band and traced it to the extra force needed to apply the gas check.

Cool pickup! I would throw my card down too if I stumbled upon one of those in a local consignment rack.

I picked up my one and only Redhawk, a 7.5” .41 Mag, by offering $350 bucks after it sat for a couple of months on consignment for $700 at a police-oriented gun store.

That was my golden ticket moment, one that I haven’t had the luck to repeat since.

Can’t wait to read about your first range trip with it! :D

Stay safe.

Good Grief that’s NICE!
