I know nothing about these, but have been considering an old milsurp type rifle.

really thinking about a garand, another friend has one of the 308 ones that you can get from the CMP, it's really nice - but dang, it's also a grand.

several friends have nagants which are okay, but the $200+ price tag on them now isn't doing it for me considering how rough they are.

If people these K31's these "kick like a mule"...
1) Never try a M95 in 8x56r
2) Do you have a proper mount on your shoulder?
3) What would the same folks think of a M38 Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54r?

The muzzle flash on the M95 or M38 are worth it! :)

I love my K31. I haven't shot any of the other Swiss rifles, but the K31 is just an engineering masterpiece and is super accurate, powerful, and loud. It is a very refined rifle... there is a noticeable difference between the machining of the mass-produced Mosin-Nagants and the K31.

Hehehe... K31 carbine... The Swiss must be enormous people. My K31 is almost as long as my Mosin and seems noticeably wider/heavier, although I don't have them in front of me to compare.

Man if I had the cash! I'd pick up a K11 rifle and carbine, handpicked. Maybe I'll settle for a bayonet for my K31. You really can't go wrong with the K31 or K11 in good shape, and they're priced at the low end of what I've seen. I don't know about the 1896/11 conversions, I'm sure they're fine and interesting but for the same price I'd lean towards one of the later years for a shooter.
