Kabooming Glocks (and not 23s either)

Good post. Thanks for the information and going to the trouble of posting that stuff.

Id like to mention I have some early 17's with the xx123 numbers.
Just sent one back to the factory and they went through it and replaced several items to up grade it. Shoots great.

All for nothing, nada just sent it to them, no cost for shipping back to me, only cost was my original price to ship it to them.

I have had a Glock since 1988 and many more, no problems nada zip. Best pistol I have ever shot and owned. I don't reload the ammo I shoot in the gun though. I do shoot them a lot hundreds of rounds a month.

But after seeing this thread and all the information put forth by the anti Glockers I am going to sell all of them and get me a 1911:neener: NOT:D

Glock's hay day is over.

The new synthetic is Smith's M&P

And Whiskey33, you should read those articles you are referencing. They don't help your case. The Sig for example, was repaired with an new extractor and a set of grips. The 1911 was a bore obstruction, etc. Compare this to the damage you see with Glock's kabooms. The problem seems to originate from the chamber, and totals the gun.

Dobe...there is no Smith and Wesson anymore. They sold out to a lock company, um...when was it, 2000. Now it is a lock company that attaches revolvers to them. Pistols...they make pistols? Really? Pray tell, what was/is so special about the M&P? S&W has a long track record of making very poor bottom feeders.

Dobe,

sorry, but the M&P is garbage.

Anyhow, the SIG is so easily repaired because it's a steel frame. Compare apples to apples. It's like saying my Tacoma is tougher than your Saturn....

Speer has already taken the blame for the GLOCK 37's KB in recent news. Faulty ammo can make any pistol explode. I've got thousands of rounds down range through a GLOCK and not a single issue whatsoever.

I'm not worried about it. If there were half as many SIG's on the market as GLOCKS, you'd probably hear a little more about it.

DagFvr,
I'm still trying to make since out that.

Wishkey 33,
Thake another sip, and reflect on all of the "myths" about Glock Kabooms. We're just out to get 'ya. It can't be real.

One mans trash is another mans treasure I guess. I'm not a fan of them. The trigger is garbage (not saying GLOCK's is amazing) and I don't buy S&W anymore.

First, it's Wiskey, second I don't need to TAKE another sip of anything. If you're set on your M&P, so be it, but that's your problem not mine.

You seem to dislike GLOCK's for one reason or another, but face it, all pistols have had their issues, and will continue to. If there were half as many as your fancy M&P's on the market as there were GLOCKS, then you'd be hearing issues as well.

It's just a matter of time.

Somewhere in your words is ammo for a true Glock basher. I'll let you parse it out yourself. Also, the frame is aluminium alloy, not steel.

Oh my bad, Aluminum Alloy...it's still the fact that it's a heavy piece or trash.

Hey, you can keep your SIG's and your M&P's, fine by me. I'm not worried about my GLOCK's, they do just fine, and will continue to. and SIG does make an SS frame. Stainless STEEL.

And yea...you really nailed it on the head..I'm a GLOCK basher. That's why I own, and trust my life to two of them...good call though.

Typical.

I've made comments about GLOCK to those who are the bashers...they asked why I dislike M&P's, and I gave a reason. Who does this make one a troll?

Two posts out of 13 makes that "most of them"?

New Glock owner here. I have to ask. If all of these Glocks are blowing up, why do so many police officers want to carry them?

Bummer....it was not Glock's fault in Winter Haven.

Can you say "Bad Ammunition"? :p

On Thursday, a spokesman for Speer, the company that makes the ammo the officers were using, took responsibility for the incidents. Ernest Durham, a spokesman for Speer, says his company sent Winter Haven a defective load of ammo.

After the first gun blew, Speer asked Winter Haven to return whatever shells were left. Officers thought they did. But some members of the SWAT Team still had ammo loaded in their guns. The next time they practiced, another gun blew.

"If the ammo was collected and replaced, the second gun wouldn't have ruptured," said Durham.

There are only a few models that have had issues, which is usually the higher pressure rounds like the .40 S&W and 10mm.

I've got a model 29 and carry it IWB daily, or I'll switch it out with a 23. I guess I had better get better insurance since they're going to blow up in my face.:banghead:

Whether they were blowing up or not, police departments purchase by low bid. Glock is not a bad gun. I have a lot of respect for what the platform has this industry. But all of the Kaboom or GSDS's (Glock Spontaneous Disintegragtion Syndrome) that have come out is just a little concerning. How much before you say "I just have to believe some of the anectdotal evidence?

I don't know, but this is the first handgun I've bough myslef. They are affordable and the one I rented was pretty good. It wasnt as accurate as some others, but the guy at the range said it gets rented more and might be a little loose. He said the new ones are badass.

I've seen tons of guys at the range shooting Glocks and I've never seen one blow up. Id never even heard of that until i came here.

BusterPendragon, don't worry about it. The chances are slim that you will ever have a problem. These events are rare and they get blown all out of proportion by Glock haters all the time. You made an excellent choice by purchasing a Glock, they are one of the best pistols out there.

Now go get some training, buy lots of ammo, and practice with your new Glock. And remember to be safe and have fun!

People blow up all types of guns on occassion. The difference being that if you blow up a Glock, you get instant fame in the internet forums. If you blow up something else, you hide it in your garage and don't tell anyone of the stupid thing you did to make your gun blow up.

+P ammo in any auto pistol makes me a little nervous

Why? I run .45 Super in my S&W 3rd gens and 9mm+p+ in my 5906 and Baby Eagle all the time. We won't even talk about my 10mm loads that go through the Kimber, S&W and Witness pistols without problems.

I just got off the phone with Glock, I sent in a slide 17 to go with my mdl 17L and it has taken some time to get it reworked (warranty to go along with the one I mentioned earlier) They tell me I should have it in my hands next week.:) That is good news.

They are a good company and I would buy another one over any other that is out there. I shoot my mdl 21 45acp with a 400 Corbon barrel, am currently getting some more ammo for it. The lower pressure of the 400 with great results down range makes it a perfect round as far as I am concerned.

The 10 mm is a good one and I have a barrel for it that I shoot in my mdl 21, but I really like the 400 Corbon. Very accurate and very nice trajectory out for a good distance, makes for a good hunting cartridge or a fine badguy stopper.:what:

This is interesting for sure:

If you look at the beef around the 400 Corbon or the 10MM in Glocks chamber, it makes the above S&W look anemic...I'd be very careful if I were you...The Corbon is on the low side of pressure and the 45 super and 10mm are very high...:uhoh:
