Kahr vs Kel Tec Mini Handgun

If it's mainly for use as BUG and you don't want to spend a whole lot then go with the Kel Tec.

If you still don't want to spend a whole lot, but want to move up to a decent 9mm that's a decent shooter and don't mind that it's not really a "pocket gun" you may want to look at the Kahr CW9. I have had absolutely no issues with it with 900 rounds through it. It's thin and reliable. I wouldn't call it a pocket gun but it will disappear just about any other way you carry it.

If you don't spending more then Kahr has a few smaller models in 9 and .45 that are very good quality, just more $$$.

I had a Kel Tec P11 - I think they are great guns for the price. But then I handled a Kahr P9 Covert and fell in love with it. Ended up selling the Kel Tec to my brother and buying the Kahr. The Kahr is a bit smaller and thinner, but has surprisingly less recoil than the Kel Tec. I think it's the ergonomics of the design. Haven't handled or shot any of the .380 models. I like both guns, but to me the Kahr was better and I was willing to plunk down an extra couple of hundred bucks to get it.

I believe I read that the Kahr is a locked breach design and the Kel tecs are direct blow back. That would account for much of the difference in recoil. The grip shape and size could also be a factor though.

You are right a short trip to google confirmed they are indeed locked breech. One learns something new everyday!
