I am going to a gun show tom. morning and will be looking at the kel tec and a couple revolvers I am liking the keltec for the size and the weight. I am not sure which keltec the nine's 32 or 380. Also I have read alot about the 1st gens and 2nd gens How can you tell them apart to make sure I don't end up with a bad one. I will be using this gun as a pocket carry gun. Please tell me you'r ardvice of all four I want the most reliable and strongest one I can get.
Thanks

How can you tell them apart to make sure I don't end up with a bad one.

1st gen or 2nd gen it's still possible to get a "bad" one. That's the reason for testing out your CCW weapon prior to carrying it. Make sure you put at least 200 rounds of practice ammo and at the minimum 50 rounds of your self defense ammo to verify the gun functions properly with both.

i have 2nd gen p32 use only fmj bought it cleaned it fired it 100 rounds so far no problems at all. carry every day in pocket holster never leave home without it. have it in my pocket right now

you would be hard pressed to get any 1 gen keltec new on the shelf.....p11 nine mm not yet....my choice is the p3at, 380, just a little bigger than the 32, a little more punch... you do give up mag capacity. so if you are a poor shot go 32....gpr

imo, p11 is not a pocket gun...when you walk out the door and pat your pocket to see if your gun is there......that is a pocket gun....gpr

I can pocket my P11 easier than any J frame revolver. It's shorter and just as light as any airweight. Sure, it takes a larger pocket, but there's a variety of pants out there with large enough pockets. I have one in my pocket right now and I often check to make sure it's there. :D In the holster, it just looks like a wallet.

The P11 is more accurate than the P3AT, twice the energy level using +P (400 ft lbs vs 200), and a heavier bullet with better penetration. I really prefer carrying AT LEAST .38 Special to my .380. My .380 is for when I just can't carry anything even SLIGHTLY larger. The 9x19 is a service cartridge with a good fighting record on the street (depending on load, of course). I just don't have a lot of confidence in the .380 to expand AND penetrate. The 9x19 is much more confidence inspiring in this regard and having such an accurate service caliber weapon with such fire power in a pocket is a pretty amazing thing for a guy whose choice was once a .25 auto because it was the only thing discrete enough to carry. In those days, the P3AT would have been a godsend, so I guess the .380 ain't THAT bad..:D ..., just that if I can carry a 9mm, I will. I think the 9 is almost the largest gun to possibly pocket, though there have been pocket sized .40s. The P40 Kel Tec was only marginally larger. But, .40 is a little much for a little gun IMHO.

Now, the PF9 is available. A lighter trigger, thinner single stack, almost as much capacity or adequate at any rate, and a few ounces lighter. I'm going to give it a few years for 'em to work the bugs out and get supply up closer to demand and I might pick one up.

Hmm...

p11 = pocket gun for MCGunner

p11 > pocket gun for gpr

Then others use even BIGGER guns for pocket carry (g26, even g36)!

It's almost as if we all, somehow, have different sized pockets, impossible as it seems.

There are none smaller/lighter/as potent at the price you're going to get a kel tec, that's for sure.

Just depends on your dress. For years, I wore standard jeans, usually Rustlers from Wallyworld, and was convinced the P11 was an IWB only gun. Then, I figured out, yes, there are jeans out there other than Rustlers. Most "carpenter's jeans" have large enough pockets to swallow either my P11 or even my little alloy J frame. Lots of people pocket J frames and if you can pocket a J frame, the P11 is no problem at all.

I've also heard, from the dressier upscale folks on the board (I'm a greasy biker type dude, not into suits and sports slacks) that Dockers have large enough pockets for a J frame/P11. But, I've never bought a pair of Dockers and ain't about to. I change the oil out in my jeans once a week whether they need it or not. I don't think oil stains would be too classy on a pair of Dockers or Cockers or whatever they're called. :D

Well I just got back from the gun show and I bought a p-3at with the Parkerized Finish for a really good price it is new and had a small scratch on the top. cheaper than the blued finish. Know I need to do some shotting and figure out which holster I want to try if i want front pocket back pocket or even on my side.
