I can pocket my P11 easier than any J frame revolver. It's shorter and just as light as any airweight. Sure, it takes a larger pocket, but there's a variety of pants out there with large enough pockets. I have one in my pocket right now and I often check to make sure it's there.
In the holster, it just looks like a wallet.
The P11 is more accurate than the P3AT, twice the energy level using +P (400 ft lbs vs 200), and a heavier bullet with better penetration. I really prefer carrying AT LEAST .38 Special to my .380. My .380 is for when I just can't carry anything even SLIGHTLY larger. The 9x19 is a service cartridge with a good fighting record on the street (depending on load, of course). I just don't have a lot of confidence in the .380 to expand AND penetrate. The 9x19 is much more confidence inspiring in this regard and having such an accurate service caliber weapon with such fire power in a pocket is a pretty amazing thing for a guy whose choice was once a .25 auto because it was the only thing discrete enough to carry. In those days, the P3AT would have been a godsend, so I guess the .380 ain't THAT bad..
..., just that if I can carry a 9mm, I will. I think the 9 is almost the largest gun to possibly pocket, though there have been pocket sized .40s. The P40 Kel Tec was only marginally larger. But, .40 is a little much for a little gun IMHO.
Now, the PF9 is available. A lighter trigger, thinner single stack, almost as much capacity or adequate at any rate, and a few ounces lighter. I'm going to give it a few years for 'em to work the bugs out and get supply up closer to demand and I might pick one up.
