I am very tempted to pick one up as well... local shop has two for 350(ish) apiece... difficult to walk away without one.... accuracy is surprising from what I have experienced, the folding feature is pretty damn cool, and the overall package is just unique...my only complaint is it stings the cheek after a few rounds if you try to shoot it like other long guns..
I use the Tacticool rubber cover over the Bolt Tube/recoil buffer tube (Stock) on the Sub2000
Allows for a more comfortable cheek weld and insulates from heat as you fire numerous rounds. After about 50rds the tube really heats up and prevents you from being able to put your cheek against it.
As a I said in a previous reply, I own one in 9mm (Glock mags) an it really is a fun gun to shoot! I agree with TRguy that it was not really meant to put optics on it, but if you can or want to then thats up to you. As for me, the rifle is what it is and Im going to keep it like that.
I read a review by a guy who said that this is not a viable combat rifle. I beg to differ. It may not be the first one that I would go to (my AR-15 or a G3 would be the first choice) but I would not feel undergunned during normal urban situations if things got a little hairy.
A properly trained individual with a good tactical mindset could and would wreak havoc on the enemy with a Ruger 10/22 depending on the situation and environment. Its not gun but the person behind the gun that gets the job done.
